Best of Week in New York City

American Dream, Immigration Equality

The beautiful weather in New York City has helped keep the scene going strong this December.

Fashionable parties have been the talk of the town. Internationally renowned Jeweler Verdura celebrated the much awaited release of Atlanta based Philanthropist, Cathleen Smith-Bresciani’s second book, Sassafrass Jones & Her Forever Friends ABC’s, benefitting the Humane Society of New York.

The party hosted by Verdura President, Nico Landrigan was at Verdura’s exclusive fifth avenue atelier, and drew a wide range of notables, from New York and beyond, including socialite Olivia Palermo, legendary rock & roll singer Fred Schneider of the B-52’s, as well as Yankee great, Willie Randolph, Humane Society Supporter, Cornelia Guest, Powerhouse Attorney Allen Grubman and more.

And on the tech front Mobile styling app Covet Fashion unveiled Hollywood actress and fashion queen, Emma Roberts as their very first “Covet Host.” Providing intimate engagement with her fans and Covet Fashion’s community in an unprecedented way, the partnership puts Emma front and center. All December long fans can get to know and engage with Emma by styling her avatar in an array of real world clothing for her fast-paced life in the “Day in the Life of Emma Roberts” series.

Other events in town included the screening of the award-winning short Dreaming American, which deals with the struggles undocumented people face in New York City.  There were over 200 hundred students supporting the cause at the screening. Natalie Goncharov from “Immigration Equality” addressed the crowd during the night as the director was applauded for his work.

Charitable work is also being done. For the 16th year “Make a Kid Happy” is taking places and providing Christmas gifts for children.  Founded in 1999 by Frank and Dominick Davi, in loving memory of Rose D’Angio, the organization is helping give to underprivileged and special needs children of the Reece School in Harlem, the League Treatment Center, and the A.H.R.C.
