Christine Pedi Remembers Betty Comden

This week, actress, singer and radio personality Christine Pedi, paid a loving tribute to songwriter Bettty Comden on her 100th birthday at Feinstein’s/54 Below in New York City. Betty Comden with collaborator Ådolph Green, started out writing and performing reviews, before embarking on illustrious  careers writing hits songs for Broadway and Hollywood. ApplauseThe Will Rogers Follies, Hallelujah Baby, On the 20th Century, Bells Are Ringing were just some of the shows that won them 7 Tony Awards. Peter Pan, Wonderful Town and On the Town went on to be hit films and TV shows winning them 2 Academy Award nominations. She even won a Grammy.

Christine who had a wonderful relationship with Betty Comden and spent many hours with her. Between songs Christine related some of her conversations with the prolific writer and  of the musical theatre.

Magda Katz has been in the entertainment world for most of her life as a child actress, assistant to the head publicist of Avco Embassy Pictures, theatrical print agent. She went on to manage the show business career of her 2 children for over 15 years. For the last five years Magda has been filming and editing video trailers of live performances as well as celebrity interviews. Broadway After Dark was the first website to feature her video trailers. She contributed in creating a star studded 90th birthday party for Mickey Rooney at Feinstein’s at the Regency Hotel.
