On Friday, January 27, Saturday, January 28 and Sunday, January 29 The Ride, New York’s traveling entertainment, will morph into this city’s first $2.5 million Living Billboard as it greets the thousands and thousands of fans attending the 2017 BroadwayCon at the Jacob Javits Convention Center.
Parked right at the entrance to the Javits Center (on the inner roadway) at Eleventh Avenue and 38th Street, The Ride will preview its March 30 World Premiere of the Virtual Reality driven Downtown Experience.
The Ride’s three days at the entrance to the Javits Center will be hosted by Gold Star Tour Guide, Rory Lipide, who was most recently named the Most Entertaining Tour Guide in New York. Co-Hosting will be The Ride’s rising star, Christina Daltons Isaken.
On Saturday, January 28 The Ride’s Author/Director/CEO/CCO, Richard Humphrey will be on hand to answer questions about The Downtown Experiance and its introduction of Virtual Reality to New York’s Entertainment Industry and the Broadway Community.
Also on Saturday, The Ride’s fabulous publicist Broadway baby Judy Jacksina, will hold forth at Booth 313 – already being referred to as “the fabulous Ride Booth!” Also on board will be Director of Operations Alexis Qualls.
The Ride’s concept is a brainstorm of design that has resulted in a fleet of multi-million dollar motor coaches whose interiors are a state-of-the-art wonderland of electronic wizardry that guide 49 dazzled tourists around the most fascinating city in the world. The Ride’s original genius was its realization that the streets of Manhattan are a fifty-mile stage exhibiting the most riveting visuals on earth. Adding its own actors to the crowded mix on the street, the huge motor coaches deliver a show worthy of the standing ovations and group euphoria. The buses are specifically designed theatrical vehicles; the tallest allowed by federal law, fitted with stadium-style seating that orients the 49 fortunate participants sideways so as to look through the massive windows that deliver New York as the most successful Broadway show on earth. These unanimously acclaimed coaches are equipped with surround sound, 3,000 LED lights and 40 video screens. They are, in essence, rolling state-of-the-art theatres that introduce their travelling audiences to an interactive experience that only the most interactive city in the western hemisphere could deliver. Each motor coach’s external speakers and lighting allow riders and on-board performers to interact with The Ride’s street performers as well as anyone else they pass on the street.
Beginning March 30th The Ride, has chosen TimeLooper, a global Virtual Reality platform, to create unforgettable VR moments in New York’s history to be scripted into its new timeless production, The Downtown Experience. Presenting the world-changing iconic events of a neighborhood that gifted Freedom to every other country on Earth. From the minute President George Washington was sworn in on the second balcony of Federal Hall at 29 Wall Street on April 30, 1789 the new Americans went to work. They laid out the streets, built bridges, libraries, universities, ships, railroads, tunnels, hospitals, theatres, museums, churches, town houses, meeting halls and commercial concourses, survived fires, riots, epidemics and the weather, created Wall Street, organized unions, published newspapers, developed public education, public transportation and public housing. Downtown Manhattan is still the center of all that is possible.
