Sometimes we don’t realize our own city has treasures to explore. If you have never been to The Pierre Hotel, you have missed a New York icon, that has so much to offer. Located on 5th Ave and 60th right across the street from Central Park, The Pierre remains a treasured landmark since the 1930’s.
There are three ways to enjoy The Pierre this holiday season and beyond.
The Rotunda, is an iconic room within The Pierre, and was re-imagined in 2016 by renowned architect and designer Daniel Romualdez. You will feel like you are in a Greek Gods palace. The Rotunda menus pull inspiration from The Pierre’s black tie crowd, with afternoon and supper menus offering dishes from Maine Lobster Tartine, Welsh Rarebit to Spaghetti Bolognese. The room’s center table is covered by chilled champagne, overflowing jars of madeleines and macarons, and tiers of chocolate cakes and seasonal bundt cakes. The room’s cocktail carts bring drinks tableside, with one cart offering a selection of classic cocktails inspired by famous mixologists from The Pierre and elsewhere. A specialty cart serves rare spirits that change with the seasons. There are so many wonderful choices. This will be an amazing culinary lunch or dinner that you will always remember.
For those who love High Tea, The Two E Bar/Lounge designed by Champalimaud features a striking art deco copper bar as its centerpiece, which artfully balances the old world detailing on the classic columns and ceiling. The lounge, offers an elaborate afternoon tea ($65 or $85 with Champagne). Sip on homemade tea blends and sup on tea sandwiches like Miniature Lobster Rolls, American Caviar on Buckwheat Blinis, as well as decadent pastries and freshly baked scones with Devenshire Cream, Raspberry Preserves and Lemon Curd. This is the perfect mother/daughter bonding place.
Also as a special treat once a month, the Broadway at the Pierre series. On Monday December 11th, catch cast members Kevin Smith Kirkwood and Natalie Joy Johnson from Kinky Boots. Now in its fifth smash year on Broadway. Kinky Boots has won every major award including the Tony for Best Musical, the Grammy(R) and London’s Olivier(R) Award. Two E will offer food and beverages inspired by the hit show. On January 24th, The Pierre welcomes cast members from the eagerly-anticipated new revival of Once On This Island. The show is free with a $75 per person food and beverage minimum. Make sure you try the cheese crisps, the pate and the duck plates. They were out of this world.
