Fashionable Fun in New York City

Fashionable Fun in New York City

It has been a fun week in New York City for fashion lovers and trendsetters.

The Gregory Hotel hosted a pop-up atelier celebrating the launch of a small capsule collection by Claudine DeSola of CARAVAN STYLIST STUDIO and zero waste fashion designer and philanthropist Tabitha St. Bernard (Youth Initiative Coordinator of the Women’s March) in partnership with NYC Fashion M.A.D.E. (Manufacturers Alliance of Design Educators).

The collection consisted of two zero waste designs and takes the emerging “see now, buy now” trend one step further as it will also be “made now.” During NYFW, fashionistas were able to shop for dresses after selecting from two designs and choosing a recycled fabric that speaks to them, as a form of “color therapy.”  Guests then watched pieces being created live on Brother sewing machines. It’s reasons like this that we love CARAVAN (yes, we also adore in-house artist Valerie just as much as their artful ventures).

car “Designing beautiful clothing that is also kind to the environment is what continuously inspires me to create zero waste designs. By not wasting any fabric, my intentionality with design becomes a welcome restriction. I know that my line not only helps women feel at one with their style, it also brings awareness to the fact that we are citizens of the earth and there is responsibility with that privilege.” Tabitha St. Bernard.

To celebrate the future of fashion even more, Caravan * TABII teamed up with NYC Fashion M.A.D.E. (Manufacturers Alliance of Design Educators). NYC Fashion M.A.D.E. supports the teaching of garment manufacturing and technological skills to the fashion community. The mission is to educate the next generation of manufacturers with industrial skills and technological innovation. The organization seeks to fill this gap by enhancing the knowledge of existing workers, introducing innovations to the industry and teaching future generations.

Curvy Magazine Editor-In-Chief KeKe Simot held a celebration at the close of New York Fashion Week. The invitation-only event was held at Delilah New York to celebrate the premiere 100-page issue. Guests were invited to an hour tasting of Rose by ABK Beer and Redbull all while having a great time mingling with local models, fashion, notables, and influencers who came out.

Macy’s announced the release of an exclusive, new collection by famed designer Yigal Azrouel. YYIGAL, an architecturally-influenced, limited-edition line, embodies the sophisticated and feminine spirit of the Yigal Azrouel brand through signature tops, blouses, faux-leather motorcycle jackets, intricate dresses and a statement jumpsuit. YYIGAL is available at 149 Macy’s stores and on today.

“YYigal represents the effortless style, cool confidence and modern sophistication that is at the core of my brand,” said Yigal Azrouel. “From the intricate lace detailing and architectural silhouettes, to the delicate draping that has become signature to my design; each piece was created to stand out and make the wearer feel empowered. This is my first collaboration with Macy’s, and they’ve been an incredible partner in helping bring my point-of-view to their customers.”

And, yes people in fashion do love also eat fun things.

Celebs were caught munching down during New York Fashion Week on, you  guessed it, McDonald’s! Bella Hadid and Kendall Jenner walked the Anna Sui show and then meet up with Kim Kardashian afterwards to relax and enjoy some delicious snacks. Kim shared two Snapchat posts featuring their McDonald’s snack attack. The first post is a video that features Bella and Kendall holding a McDonald’s bag, and Kim is heard stating “Look at these delivery girls, how cute are these delivery girls!”

Also lovin’ the Golden Arches this week was fashion editor and Project Runway star, Zanna Rassi, who posted a picture of herself with fashion industry icons Mazdack Rassi (her husband) and Jenne Lobardo and the caption “Fast. Fashion.”

And, in more serious news the very fashionable group the Point Foundation is getting to award “Orange is the New Black” star, Uzo Aduba with the Point Courage Award.  Academy-Award winning writer and director, Dustin Lance Black will receive the Point Leadership Award.  The event will take place on April 3 at The Plaza Hotel.

You just have to love this beautiful city.
