There is no greater feeling of liberty than to experience freedom and I am thankful I live in a country that allows this. I am so thankful for this nation. I am grateful. Thank you for the opportunities and freedoms we have in the United States of America. Help me never to take these blessings for granted.
On this Independence Day, I am reminded of all those who have sacrificed for my freedom. Let me not take my freedom, both physical and spiritual, for granted. May I always remember that a very high price was paid for my freedom. My freedom cost others their very lives. Bless those who have served and continue to give their lives for my freedom. With favor and bounty, meet their needs and watch over their families.
Grant that we and all the people of this land may have grace to maintain our liberties in righteousness and peace.
This year we celebrate 242 years since a small group of men, representing 13 British colonies, asserted that the time had come to declare their independence. They made a long list of grievances against England and declared that independence was necessary and right. After winning a war that few thought possible, three separate branches have kept too much power in one place. We get to participate in the election of our own leaders and enjoy the privileges and protections of a constitution with a primary view toward preventing oppressive government.
We should be thankful for our Founders — Adams, Franklin, Jefferson, Washington, Madison, Hamilton, and many others, who wrote in the Declaration of Independence closing words: “And for the support of this Declaration, with a firm Reliance on the Protection of divine Providence, we mutually pledge to each other our Lives, our Fortunes, and our Sacred Honor.”
On this Independence Day, let our hearts be full of gratitude.
Happy 4th of July from all of us at T2C.
