Hudson River Park’s Summer of Fun Schedule

Hudson River Park’s Summer of Fun Schedule

Hudson Park

Hudson River Park, the nation’s longest riverfront park and an urban oasis for New Yorkers and visitors from every corner of the world, has just announced its 2017 lineup of free cultural, recreational, entertainment and educational events and programs for New Yorkers, families and visitors to the Big Apple. More than 215 special entertainment events and summer programs will be offered across Hudson River Park’s 550 acres of lush parkland and marine sanctuary—in the water, on the courts and green spaces, across nine public piers, and under the sun and stars. Official kickoff to the summer’s festivities is Saturday, May 13th, with the 3rd Annual Hudson River Park Games, with activities extending from June through September in New York’s Park for Play.

Popular events, including the Hudson River Dance Festival, the 18th Annual Blues BBQ Festival, Big City Fishing, the Hudson RiverFlicks Movie Series, Sunset on the Hudson concerts, Salsa and Swing dancing will be back—and bigger and better than ever before! The newly expanded “Healthy on the Hudson” fitness series starts in early May this year and continues well into autumn so New Yorkers and their families can “get their fitness on” in the great outdoors sun-up to sun-down. Free sing-along movie nights are back by popular demand featuring “Mama Mia” and “Chicago,” and sizzling sounds from legendary artists aligned with the Jazz Foundation of America will bring welcome chill to sultry Thursday evenings in June, July and August.

Summer of Fun 2017 begins with the return of the Hudson River Park Games on May 13th! Presented by Friends of Hudson River Park, The Games are a fundraising opportunity for casual and elite fitness buffs of any level, as well as visitors to the Park who just love to get outdoors. What a fun way to actively support the indispensable community resource and premier riverfront treasure that is Hudson River Park! The Games help sustain future recreational programming in New York’s Park for Play through registrations for premiere “Healthy on the Hudson” Yoga, Bootcamp and Spin classes led by NYC fitness studios like Bari and Fhitting Room, as well as pledges to support Pentathlon participants, and direct donations.

“From yoga classes to salsa dancing, to sunset strolls along the waterfront, nothing sizzles like summers in Hudson River Park,” said Madelyn Wils, CEO and President of Hudson River Park Trust. “Every day of the week, sun-up to sun-down, there’s something for everyone. We’re absolutely thrilled to have such a rich and diverse offering of cultural, recreational, educational and environmental activities for New Yorkers and visitors to the City to discover and explore all summer long. We invite everyone to experience firsthand all that our extraordinary urban oasis has to offer.”
