Marty Allen and Karon Prove Age is Just a Number

Marty Allen

Marty Allen is one of the most versatile performers in show business. He has worked solo as a comedy headliner in nightclubs and as a dramatic actor in television roles. Marty’s friendly Hello Dere greeting is known and imitated by fans throughout the world. During the 1950’s, Allen worked on the finest nightclubs as the opening act for such stars as Sarah Vaughan, Edydie Gorme and Nat King Cole. Many people remember him as a regular on Hollywood Squares. He was also part of a successful comedy duo, Allen and Rossi. Now he is part of a new dynamic duo with his talented wife Karon Blackwell.

Marty Allen, Karon

Karon’s career began in nightclubs and showrooms throughout the country, opening for the likes of Wayne Newton in Las Vegas and Burl Ives in Reno. Karon’s television credits include The Tonight Show, The Regis Philbin Show and Hour Magazine.

The couple met in the mid 80’s and began performing together combining Karon’s music and Marty’s comedy. 94 year old Allen is still on top of his game and has not lost any of his timing. Karon opened the show and the whole room became electrified. She is a great singer, pianist and entertainer. She displayed her  superb musicianship as she played rock’n’roll ala Jerry Lee Lewis.  Karon  keeps the evening at a fast pace and  cleverly sets up the jokes for Allan.

Thank you Bernie and Joanne Furshpan for bringing another fun show to the Metropolitan Room.
