Meet The Playwrights of WinterFest: Mark Sickman a Musical Poet
Mark Sickman

Mark Sickman

Mark Sickman is a published poet and a former national winner of the Robert Frost Foundation Poetry Award. He is the founder and publisher of the sports-themed poetry website baseballbard.com. Mr. Sickman’s musicals, plays and cabarets have been performed from coast to coast, including two off-Broadway runs. His show Space Number Nine is currently in production in Phoenix, Arizona. His musical Rope premiered at the 2016 New York Winterfest and was given a run at the Robert Moss Theatre in New York City and recently at the Tenth Avenue Theater in San Diego, California. Rope is based loosely on the story of George Maledon, a hangman who oversaw the executions of more than 60 convicted criminals, landing him the moniker “The Prince of Hangmen.” Mark is an alumnus of Loyola University of Chicago and the graduate school of the University of Missouri. Mark is the founder and publisher of the poetry website baseballbard.com. He and his wife Marilyn reside in La Jolla, CA.

His show Intruder is set in the studio of Newell Chancellor, a revered composer for musical theatre. Newell and his assistant, Michelle, are working on songs for a new production. Suddenly Wade, when an intruder, appears. Both Newell and Michelle feign ignorance of who Wade is and what he might want; but the audience learns that the uncouth Wade has intimate connections with each of them.

Intruder: Hudson Guild Theater, 441 West 26th St., Jan 15 @ 9pm, Jan 17 @ 9pm and Jan 20 @ 3:30pm
