My View: Me & Ella (For Everyone Who Loves Ella)

My View: Me & Ella (For Everyone Who Loves Ella)

Ella Fitzgerald had a special sweetness in her personality and in her voice, and Andrea Frierson has captured it all in her one women show ME & ELLA  at the York Theatre.   Andrea possess vocal chords that seem to be coated with honey and a persona to match.  In addition, some sweet and talented folks have aided her in creating a wonderful story (written by Andrea) of how Ella’s music and life have inspired Ms. Frierson.  Music Director Ron Abel’s arrangements and piano playing are historically spot on and make you live in that historic musical moment. The direction by Murphy Cross and Paul Kreppel makes this a moving and wonderful Valentine to Ella.
