My View: The Honeymooners at Paper Mill Playhouse

My View: The Honeymooners at Paper Mill Playhouse

Once again I was sitting in a great theatre and enjoying a lavish musical production with 1,200 other folks. Smiles, laughs, spontaneous cheers and applause throughout the 2 1/2 hours.  The cast was amazing, the story was engaging, the music tuneful and the choreography exciting.  One problem…………….the next morning the “theatre experts” told me that is not how we all should have felt……The Honeymooners at Paper Mill Playhouse is a delight!  It’s a musical for everyone and if you were a fan of the original on TV you will be in heaven with this musical upgrade.  The genius of the original Honeymooners, Jackie Gleason, Audrey Meadows, Art Carney and Joyce Randolph is superbly reproduced by Michael McGrath (Ralph Kramden) Leslie Kritzer, (Alice) Michael Mastro, (Ed Norton) and Laura Bell Bundy (Trixie Norton).  The price of a ticket will do more for your heart with laughter and warmth than a session with a personal trainer at the gym.  Run (also good for your heart) don’t walk to the Paper Mill.
