The Prosecco DOC Consortium, the entity that oversees the production of the hugely popular Italian sparkling wine, is hosting National Prosecco Week across the country. The fun ranges from Prosecco and Pizza competitions to master classes, led by well-known sommeliers in each city that focus on teaching and showcasing Prosecco’s food pairing versatility with various dishes.
In addition to celebrating Prosecco, this initiative serves as an important educational purpose, debunking myths and misconceptions about the Prosecco category and teaching consumers, press, and trade how to recognize—and enjoy—authentic Prosecco.
Yesterday at Black Barn, an educational lunch with pairings was led by Sarah Tracey. Media and trade officials tasted several selections, with the Mionetto Organic label highlighting the day. Guests enjoyed Big-Eye Tuna Tartare, Eggplant Caponata Tartine, Fresh Orecchiette, and Chicken Milanese along with several top prosecco brands.
The end of the scrumptious meal was topped with a gorgeous pairing of Double Chocolate Cherry Cookies with Mionetto Prosecco DOC made with organicically grown grapes from Italy. The divine crispness of the glass was superb and well-balanced in richness.
The grapes for this wine are from a certified organic winery in the town of Vazzola in the hills of Treviso. The winery practices organic farming techniques and grows the grapes without synthetic chemicals and fertilizers. Bright yellow in color there are hints of green apple and elderflower in the delicate bubbles.
And coming up at the renowned pizzeria Roberta’s in Brooklyn on June 16th, attendees can buy tickets for an amazing soiree. Prosecco by the glass will be served along with Prosecco cocktails and specialty pizzas.
