The phenomenal restaurant (19 W. 44th Street) has a standing reputation for some of the best Greek selections in town. The atmosphere is gorgeous and matches the beautiful dishes. The success of the venue has been created through hard work and passion for food and wine. Now the owners are taking things to the next level with a new 100% sustainable menu.

Unheard of in New York City is the groundbreaking approach that is to be applauded. Kellari owner, Stavros Aktipis interest in the ecological health of the planet along with the knowledge of where our food originates from started a buzz in his ear. Nearly a year later the menu formulated to honor these notions is now here.

This major menu overhaul began with Kellari’s partnership with the Monterey Bay Aquarium Seafood Watch program, which is committed to identifying seafood caught or farmed in ocean-friendly ways.

Owner Stavros Aktipis, in consultation with industry leading experts, researched every ingredient on Kellari’s table.  The end result is a menu that is both delicious and good for you and for the planet, containing only sustainable, organic and seasonal delicacies.

Kellari has been a mainstay for the freshest fish and Greek delights for over a decade.  The dishes are on this menu are destined to be around for dozens of more decades. Highlights for starters include a splendid Salmon Keftes from Hiddenfjord on the Faroe Island, as well as a perfectly grilled Spanish Octopus (caught specifically in October for traceability).

Also to try is the Grilled Lamb Chop dish that is savory and comes form Opal Valley Farms of Australia. Even the desert Portokalopita is sustainable, as is the delicious sour dough bread from the famous Peter’s Bread.

Coming soon is The Captain’s Table experience, perfect for the holiday season. This meal includes your choice or Amuse Bouche or Lobster Bisque and an appetizer of Charcoal Grilled Octopus or Citrus Marinated Sea Bass Filet. The main course is the piece de resistance, a grilled 25-30 pound fish for the table with a choice of four sides including Greek Fries, Spanakorizo, Spanaki, Horta, Lahanika, Broccoli Rabe, Lemon Roasted Potatoes, Beluga Lentils or Gigantes Melitzana.
