Time To Bless The New Year of Theatre
Broadway Blessing
A celebration of the 20th anniversary of Broadway Blessing is a FREE event held on September 18th at 7pm at St. Malachy’s-The Actors Chapel located at 239 West 49th Street (between Broadway and 8th Avenue). Designed as a service of song, dance and story designed to seek God’s grace on the new theater season, Broadway Blessing started in 1997 to bring the Broadway community together, and  was previously held at St. John the Divine, Church of the Transfiguration (Little Church Around the Corner), St. Luke’s, St. Clements. Featuring the Broadway Blessing Choir and Project Dance, the program will also include David Beach (Something Rotten, Mama Mia, Urinetown) and a Q&A Catherine Russell who is in Guinness book of world records for most performances starring in Perfect Crime. She’s played the lead role off-broadway for 30 years! Fr. George Drance, Artistic Director of Magis Theatre Company, will perform a short piece from his show, Mark, and will also serve as emcee for the evening. He will also participate in the candlelight ceremony along with Fr. John Fraser, interim Pastor of St. Malachy’s-The Actors Chapel and Rabbi Jill Houseman from the Actors Temple. The audience will be invited to participate in a sing-a-long to close the show and to the reception that will follow. All are welcome.
