Here are some dental hygiene tips that every teenager should consider in their regular health care routine:

  1. A Proper Brushing Technique

It is never enough to banish your leftover food particles with a quick wash of the bristles. You must clean and polish your teeth thoroughly to make sure that the bacteria are unable to build homes within the gaps of your teeth. You should brush your teeth at a 45 Degree angle with back and forth strokes to clean the teeth.

  1. Brush Enough

You do not to brush too often. It is important to make sure that you brush your teeth twice on a daily basis. Brush properly and make sure that the plaque is not able to build within the gaps of the teeth.

  1. Choose the Right Brush

Make sure that the brush you have selected consists of a small head and bristles that are capable of reaching into the crevices that exist within the molars. You need to focus on those areas of your dentition to make sure that the food debris is not hidden after you are done with your eating.

  1. Take a Note of the ADA Seal

There are so many brands of toothpaste available in the market and each of them claims deals to promote their own brands. However, make sure that you choose a product that carries the ADA seal of Acceptance.

  1. Use a Mouthwash

Mouthwash is capable of reaching places within your mouth along the areas where the floss and the toothbrush are not able to reach. This helps you to get rid of the debris that would otherwise, irritate the gum line and cause gingivitis.

  1. Clean your brush

Clean your brush thoroughly before and after brushing your teeth. Rinse your brush well and allow it to dry after you are done using it and make sure that you never share your brush with anyone, not even with your kids.

  1. Change your brush

Bristles often tend to deteriorate with use and thus it may not be able to get the best clean anymore. Thus, change your brush every three to four months.

  1. Floss your mouth properly

You must floss your mouth properly to ensure that the germs that are stuck within the gaps of the teeth are eliminated and the bad odour that would usually exist otherwise, do not sustain anymore.

  1. Stop snacking

Do not opt for a snack after you have finished brushing for the night as that will ruin your benefits of brushing.

  1. Use a tongue scraper

Bacteria may still remain on the tongue even after you have brushed your teeth. Thus, scrape your tongue on a daily basis to banish the bacteria as well as freshen your breath.
