Transportation New York Style For Easter

Transportation in New York for Easter is not as easy as you might think. The crosstown buses can’t cross due to the Easter Parade, so make alternate routes.The Metropolitan Transportation Authority (MTA) has a revised schedual through early Monday morning, April 17th. They are “upgrading” this weekend so getting around on the subway tomorrow is going to be tough, as 15 train lines have service changes.

1 train:

  • Are suspended in both directions between 14 St and South Ferry. Take 2/3 or R trains and free shuttle buses. Shuttle buses run between Chambers St and South Ferry.

2 train:

  • 2 trains run local in both directions between Chambers St and 34 St-Penn Station.

3 train:

  • Until further notice, 3 trains skip Sutter Av-Rutland Rd and Junius St in both directions. Use free shuttle buses instead.
    • For Service to/from Sutter Av-Rutland Rd, free shuttle buses operate between the Sutter Av-Rutland Rd station and the Crown Hts-Utica Av station at all times.
    • For Service to/from Junius St, free shuttle buses operate between the Junius St station and the Rockaway Av station at all times.
  • Until Monday, April 17, 3 service operates to/from New Lots Av all weekend, replacing the 4 in Brooklyn.

4 train:

  • At all times until Spring 2017, 4 trains skip Sutter Av-Rutland Rd and Junius St in both directions. Use free shuttle buses instead.
    • For Service to/from Sutter Av-Rutland Rd, free shuttle buses operate between the Sutter Av-Rutland Rd station and the Crown Hts-Utica Av station at all times.
    • For Service to/from Junius St, free shuttle buses operate between the Junius St station and the Rockaway Av station at all times.
  • Until Monday, April 17, 4 trains are suspended in both directions between New Lots Av/Crown Hts-Utica Av and Brooklyn Bridge-City Hall. Take the 2/3/D/J/N/Q or R instead. For service between Manhattan and Brooklyn, take the D/N/Q or R. For service to/from Wall St and Bowling Green, use the R/W (N overnight) at the nearby Rector St or Whitehall St stations. For service to/from Fulton St, and between Borough Hall and Franklin Av, take the 2 or 3 instead, or use the at nearby Broad St. For service between Franklin Av and Crown Hts-Utica Av, take the 3 instead, running all weekend.

5 train:

  • Until Monday, April 17, 5 trains are suspended in both directions between Eastchester-Dyre Av and E 180 St. 5 service will operate between E 180 St/149 St-Grand Concourse and Grand Central-42 St. Free shuttle buses operate all weekend between Eastchester-Dyre Av and E 180 St, stopping at Baychester Av, Gun Hill Rd, Pelham Pkwy, and Morris Park. Transfer between trains and shuttle buses at E 180 St.
  • From 6:00 a.m. to 11:00 p.m. Saturday, April 15, and from 8:00 a.m. to 11:00 p.m. Sunday, April 16, 5 trains are suspended in both directions between Bowling Green and Grand Central-42 St.

A train:

  • Until Monday, April 17, A trains are rerouted via the F line in both directions between W 4 St-Wash Sq and Jay St-MetroTech.
  • Until Monday, April 17, downtown A trains run express from 125 St to 59 St-Columbus Circle.

C train:

  • Until Monday, April 17, C trains are rerouted via the F line in both directions between W 4 St-Wash Sq and Jay St-MetroTech.
  • Until Monday, April 17, downtown C trains run express from 125 St to 59 St-Columbus Circle.

D train:

  • Until Monday, April 17, Coney Island-Stillwell Av bound D trains are rerouted via the N from 36 St to Coney Island-Stillwell Av. For service to 9 Av, Fort Hamilton Pkwy, 50 St, 55 St, 71 St, 79 St, 18 Av, 20 Av, Bay Pkwy, 25 Av, and Bay 50 St, take a Coney Island-bound D to 62 St-New Utrecht Av or Stillwell Av and transfer to a Manhattan-bound D. For service from these stations, take a Manhattan-bound D to 62 St-New Utrecht Av or 36 St and transfer to a Coney Island-bound D or N.
  • Until Monday, April 17, Norwood-205 St bound D trains run express from 36 St to Atlantic Av-Barclays Ctr.

E train:

  • Until Monday, April 17, E trains are rerouted via the F line in both directions between 21 St-Queensbridge and W 4 St-Wash Sq. Free shuttle buses run between Court Sq-23 St and 21 St-Queensbridge, stopping at Queens Plaza.
  • Until Monday, April 17, Manhattan-bound E trains run express from Roosevelt Av to 21 St-Queensbridge F station.

F train:

  • At all times until early 2017 Coney Island-Stillwell Av bound F trains skip Avenue I, Bay Pkwy, Avenue N, Avenue P, Avenue U, and Avenue X. To these stations, take the Coney Island-bound F to Kings Hwy or Neptune Av and transfer to a Jamaica-bound F. From these stations, take a Jamaica-bound F to Kings Hwy or 18 Av and transfer to a Coney Island-bound F.

J train:

  • At all times until Summer 2017, Manhattan-bound J trains skip 121 St.
    • For service to this station, use the nearby 111 St station instead. Or, take the Manhattan-bound J to 111 St and transfer to a Jamaica Center-bound J.
    • For service from this station, use the nearby 111 St station instead. Or, take the Q56 bus and transfer to/from L service at nearby 111 St.
    • Jamaica Center-Parsons/Archer bound J trains skip 121 St between 5:30 p.m. and 6:30 p.m. on weekdays. Take a Q56 bus or the Z train instead.

L train:

  • Until Monday, April 17, L trains are suspended in both directions between Lorimer St and Broadway Junction. Free shuttle buses operate between Lorimer St and Broadway Junction, stopping at Graham Av, Grand St, Montrose Av, Morgan Av, Jefferson St, DeKalb Av, Myrtle-Wyckoff Avs, Halsey St, Wilson Av, and Bushwick Av-Aberdeen St. Transfer between free shuttle buses and trains at Lorimer St and/or Broadway Junction. For direct service between Brooklyn and Manhattan, use the A or J via transfer at Broadway Junction.

N train:

  • At all times until Spring 2017, Astoria-Ditmars Blvd bound N trains skip 86 St, Avenue U, Kings Hwy, 20 Av, 18 Av, New Utrecht Av, and Fort Hamilton Pkwy. N trains will stop at Bay Pkwy and 8 Av.
    • To 86 St, Avenue U, and Kings Hwy, take the Astoria-bound N to Bay Pkwy and transfer to a Coney Island-bound N.
    • To 20 Av, 18 Av, New Utrecht Av, and Fort Hamilton Pkwy, take the Astoria-bound N to 8 Av and transfer to a Coney Island-bound N.
    • From these stations, take a Coney Island-bound N to Bay Pkwy or Stillwell Av and transfer to an Astoria-bound N.
    • For New Utrecht Av-62 St, take the D Transfer to an Astoria-bound N train at 36 St.
  • At all times until Fall 2017 N trains skip 53 St in both directions. Take the B37 or B63 to the nearby 45 St or 59 St stations for N/R service. N trains stop at 45 St during late night hours only (12:01 a.m. to 6:30 a.m. every day).
  • Until Monday, April 17 Manhattan-bound N trains run express from 59 St to Atlantic Av-Barclays Ctr.
  • Until Monday, April 17, Astoria-bound N trains run express from Queensboro Plaza to Astoria Blvd.

Q train:

  • Until Monday, April 17, Coney Island-Stillwell Av bound Q trains run express from Prospect Park to Sheepshead Bay.

R train:

  • At all times until Fall 2017 R trains skip 53 St in both directions. Take the B37 or B63 to the nearby 45 St or 59 St stations for N/R service. N trains stop at 45 St during late night hours only (12:01 a.m. to 6:30 a.m. every day)
  • Until Monday, April 17, Manhattan-bound R trains run express from Roosevelt Av to Queens Plaza.
  • FUntil Monday, April 17, Manhattan-bound R trains run express from 59 St to Atlantic Av-Barclays.
