The Whippet dog breed was first introduced at the Westminster Kennel Club Dog Show in 1893 as a member of the sporting group. In 1930, the breed was recategorized into the hound group and has been competing in this group since then. The Whippet won first in the hound group five times, including in 1958, 1964, 1965, 1981 and 2010. The Whippet Ch. Courtenay Fleetfoot of Pennyworth won Best in Show in 1964.
