Last night The American Cancer Society hosted their 14th Annual Taste of Hope to great applause. The beloved event offers signature culinary, wine, and spirits while featuring some of New York’s most popular restaurants and beverage vendors.
This moving celebration honored Culinary Honorees, Chefs Michael Lomonaco, Chef & Partner of Porter House Bar and Grill, and Ralph Scamardella, Chef & Partner of TAO Group Restaurants; Otto Cedeno, Founder of Otto’s Tacos as the Corporate Honoree, and Dana Cowin, former Editor-in-chief of Food & Wine Magazine, as the Survivor Honoree.
To date the Taste of Hope volunteer committee has raised over $1.8 Million to support the American Cancer Society’s mission and goal of eliminating cancer as a major health problem.
The room was brought to tears in between epic tastings and sips when speeches were made to honor the evening.
“As a survivor of 9-11 at the World Trade Center I want to make tonight to make my personal dedication to all the first responders who are now suffering from various kinds of cancer and suffering further,” said Michael Lomonaco to the crowd. “Thank you for all the work you are doing tonight.”
This years’ Volunteer Host Committee includes Alysia Reiner, Danny Burstein, Harry Carson, David Alan Basche, Rebecca Luker, and Clarke Thorell.
Event Co-Chairs Mark D. Friedman and Jamie Koff volunteered for 9 months to produce this signature culinary, wine, and spirits event that provides the 700+ guests the opportunity to enjoy bites from New York City’s top restaurants and philanthropic chefs, and sips from leading winemakers and spirit brands.
