2 Ways to Get a Thicker Ponytail with Ponytail Extensions

2 Ways to Get a Thicker Ponytail with Ponytail Extensions

Nothing beats a high voluminous and thick ponytail. Everyone loves one. However, you may be finding it hard to achieve the look without extensions.

When it comes to buying hair extensions, especially if you have never used them before, picking the right texture, color, and length can be much more difficult than you might have thought. You can create either a messy ponytail, a sleek high pony or a romantic ponytail.

These are easy to create, making it a perfect choice for your everyday hairstyle. However, that should not stop you as we have covered every scenario imaginable below. Furthermore, you can use the regular clip-in extension wefts without even purchasing a faux clip pony.

  • High ponytail extensions

Begin with a small ponytail at the crown of your head using your own hair. This will help to secure the base when you introduce clip-in extensions.

Clip a 3-clip weft around the ponytail ensuring that it is close to the hair elastic so that you have adequate space for clipping other wefts. Tighter clipping will ensure more comfort. Do the same for the second and third wefts.

To ensure thickness of your extension, you can use one weft that you will then clip on the wefts that are already clipped on the hair. You can then gather all hair around the ponytail to ensure it is covering the wefts well.

You can then secure the ponytail with a tie and finish the look by taking the hair and wrapping around the base of the ponytail hair extensions for a unique and polished look.

  • Messy Ponytail with Hair Extensions

This is a favorite among many people as the idea is to clip in wefts in the same direction as your hair would naturally follow when in a pony.

You can the separate the hair at the center before clipping in a 2-clip weft. You can consider two wefts if you want to achieve more volume. You can then separate the hair midway and flip upside down making sure there is enough hair to cover the wefts at the nape of the neck afterwards.

You can then continue to clip in the wefts upside down. This is a great way to ensure that the clips will not be pulling your hair when you put it in a high ponytail, that is, the clips will not pull the hair at the roots leaving you feeling comfortable.

You could consider talking out the baby hairs and any random hairpieces from your facial frame so that you achieve that messy look. Tugging at the top of your hair will help in loosening the ponytail. You could also take random sections of the ponytail and tease them.

Finish off by spraying the ponytail. If you want to achieve extra texture, simply scrunch the hair upwards using your hand and you will have a fun and playful style.

Ultimately, it is possible to achieve different ponytail styles with the help of ponytail hair extensions. However, you must ensure that you go for extensions that are very high quality with a rich texture and colour.
