2019 has already been a remarkable year for sport around the world and this is only set to continue with a number of high profile events starting soon. Both Royal Ascot and the Cheltenham festival provided memorable occasions in the racing world and were both a great success. 

This is a similar story to the Women’s football World cup in France. This really helped in increasing the interest in Women’s football with record breaking figures. The United States defended their title and had proved a popular selection throughout the competition for punters using offers at Tennis is another sport continuing to be very popular and Djokovic continued his remarkable run of form with victory at Wimbledon. This included one of the greatest matches in history as he took the victory over Federer.

The Cricket World cup was eventually won by hosts England and this event was another which will do wonders for the popularity of the sport. The final provided possibly the greatest game in history as England lifted the trophy through a super over victory over New Zealand. This turned out to be one of the most memorable days of sport alongside the Wimbledon final.

So what is next in 2019?

  • Rugby Union World Cup 

This will be the ninth edition of the Rugby World Cup, with the tournament taking place in Japan between September 20thand November 2nd. This is the first time the tournament has been held in Asia and will be expected to be a memorable occasion. New Zealand head in as the defending champions and the clear team to beat again this time around.

  • Athletics World Championships 

This will be the 17thedition of the Athletics World Championships which has been scheduled to be held between September 28thand October 6th. It is set to take place in Doha, Qatar at the newly renovated Khalifa International Stadium and is expected to be a well attended event.

  • INEOS 1:59 Challenge

For those into the marathon world, this is an event they will not want to miss. It sees the greatest marathon runner in history in the shape of Kenyan, Eliud Kipchoge as he attempts to break the two hour marathon barrier. The event is scheduled to take place on October 12thand is being held in Vienna. This is one of the key remaining fitness barriers that is yet to be broken.
