5 Great Benefits of Tea Tree Oil You Didn’t Know About

5 Great Benefits of Tea Tree Oil You Didn’t Know About

If you’re looking for an essential oil that has a wealth of benefits for both your mental and physical health, look no further, because tea tree essential oil has got your back. With this miracle essential oil, you’ll be able to get rid of acne, keep your dandruff in control, and control any inflammation you’re experiencing. Those aren’t even the only benefits—there are many more!

To learn about the many ways that tea tree essential oil can improve your life, keep reading.

1. The Many Antibacterial Uses

Tea tree oil isn’t a new essential oil, in fact, it’s been used for almost 100 years starting in Australia where it was used for skin conditions and healing. Tea tree oil is most commonly used as an antibacterial oil. It can be added to creams and oils for topical use, allowing it to deeply cleanse your skin.

2. Kick Inflammation

Inflammation is a huge problem in people who experience chronic pain, especially pain associated with different types of arthritis. Tea tree oil can help to relax this inflammation and the painful side effects that accompany it.

It’s great at reducing skin-level inflammation as well if you’ve itched your skin too hard or irritated a cut or sore.

3. Say Goodbye to Acne

Tea tree oil is probably the most famous for its ability to get rid of acne quickly. Many skincare lines include tea tree oil in their anti-acne products to help keep acne and irritation at bay. Tea tree oil is great for putting on blemishes overnight and is found to drastically reduce the size of acne in a short period of time.

However, it may be too strong for some skin types. If you have dry or sensitive skin, tea tree oil may still help you with your acne, but it may make your skin dryer and more irritated.

4. Get Rid of Dandruff

5% tea tree oil is also a great way to treat dandruff. For this reason, many haircare companies include tea tree oil as an active ingredient. This allows people to easily treat their dry, itchy scalp by using tea tree oil-infused products.

It is possible to be allergic to tea tree oil, which can have a huge impact on the health of your scalp, so make sure to do a patch test before using tea tree oil or a tea tree oil-infused shampoo.

5. Keep Your Gums Healthy

Tea tree oil is also great for those with chronic gingivitis. Chronic gingivitis is an inflammatory gum disease, so it makes sense that tea tree oil would help it the same way it helps inflammation of the skin and body.

When using tea tree oil you can expect your gums to bleed less, and you’ll also experience decreased irritation and inflammation. Tea tree oil may also help to treat bad breath, even if it’s chronic.

How to Use Tea Tree Oil

There are many different ways to use tea tree oil, and how you use it greatly depends on what you’re using it for. Essential oils always need to be diluted, as they can be harmful to the skin if used straight. You should always dilute your tea tree oil in a carrier oil, such as:

  • Sunflower oil
  • Avocado oil
  • Vitamin E oil
  • Jojoba oil
  • Olive oil

Or any other skin-friendly oil. Using a carrier oil is a great way to apply essential oils topically, but it doesn’t work as well for scalp or gum applications. For skin application, you can also dilute with a lotion.

If you’re looking to use tea tree oil for dandruff, you can mix it in with your shampoo or choose a shampoo that already includes tea tree oil. For your gums, you’ll want to make a mixture that is safe for your mouth.

There are many different ways that you can use tea tree oil, more than what we’ve listed above. We hope that you find a way to incorporate it into your lifestyle.
