Have you been doing all the right things for your health, but you still can’t seem to get to that goal weight on the scale? Believe it or not, other factors might be getting in the way of your weight loss goals. If you’re doing all the right things, there might be other sneaky things preventing you from losing weight. Read through these 5 reasons below to ensure you’re on track for success. 

1. You Skip Breakfast

Did you know breakfast is the most important meal of the day? It’s true. While it might sound like just a silly phrase, breakfast really helps you speed up your metabolism. When you pass on the first meal of the day, you’re likely to feel more hungry at lunchtime which can lead to overeating. 

If possible, eat within an hour of waking in the morning. Your breakfast should be low in sugar. Instead of grabbing a sugary treat, opt for something high in protein and fiber so you’ll feel full longer. 

2. You’re Suffering From Leaky Gut

Leaky gut happens when there are damaged cells in your intestines that aren’t producing enough enzymes for digestion. When this happens, your body might not be able to absorb the right nutrients, so you’ll experience a hormone imbalance and a weakened immune system. 

You might need leaky gut treatment even if you don’t experience other signs. Sometimes the only symptom of leaky gut is the inability to lose weight, so make sure you rule this out before you change your diet.

3. You’re Stressing Out

Stress is a normal part of life. It’s tempting to reach for the high-calorie, fatty foods when you’re feeling anxiety and stress. However, your body actually stores more fat when you’re feeling stressed, plus you’re more prone to overeating. 

Instead of reaching for a pack of cookies or other sweets when you’re feeling stressed, look for healthy ways to relieve that energy. Working out, calling a friend, or even just taking a few moments to meditate can do wonders for your mental state.

Who doesn’t feel better after a good night’s sleep? If you’re not getting enough zzz’s, it’s easy to feel worse the next day. Did you know that those fewer hours of sleep might be impacting your weight as well? 

What’s the science behind this? Most experts believe a lack of sleep increases your body’s stress hormone which causes you to store fat more quickly. In addition, you’ll be more prone to overeating since your hunger-regulating hormone is also affected. It’s time to invest in better sleep!

5. Dehydration

Finally, if you’re not drinking enough water, that might be to blame for the number on the scale. Your weight isn’t just fat. It might also be water weight. This is especially true if you’re eating a diet heavy with sodium. 

Drinking more water might seem counterintuitive in this case, but the hydration will actually help your body flush any extra water naturally. Essentially, you’ll “de-puff” and feel less bloated. 

Lose the Weight
