A Beautiful Weekend at 11th Annual Jazz Age Lawn Party

Weekends in the summer are full of magical moments. One sparkling one was at the 11th Annual Jazz Age Lawn Party that took place at Governors Island.    jazz  Gents and gals had the opportunity to dress up in their very best fresh linen, lace, and seersuckers for this special event. If you love the enthralling allure of the roaring 1920s and ‘30s there is just no better way to spend your weekend.jazz

There is something for everyone. Whether you love music or you are a major foodie you will enjoy this grand soiree. With a bit of jiving fun mixed with romantic rhythms you will be transported back in time and in to a place of blissful joy.IMG_4469

You can spend your day dancing to the delightful tunes such as by Michael Arenella & His Dreamland Orchestra, Queen Esther and Her Hot Five, and so many other greats. And for those willing you can even have a beginner Charleston lesson with Roddy Caravella. There is even a Charleston Dance Contest on Saturdays or the all-new Peabody Contest on Sundays.jazz

The Jazz Age Lawn Party can be just as much fun in between the music. There is a variety of food, vintage shopping and sipping of gorgeous cocktails to be had. On Sundays there is a High Court of Pie” Contest that is competitive fun. There is also a Bathing Beauties and Beaus Promenade, 1920s Motorcar Exhibition and for the kids magic tricks.jazz

All General Admission guests enjoy “Tasty Town” eats, treats and sweets located in the center of the Vendor Village including brands such as: Renegade Lemonade, Melt Bakery, Luke’s Lobster, Fire Belly Korean BBQ, Mayhem & Stout, Perfect Picnic, Mom’s Cooking and An Artistic Taste.jazz

Bee’s Knees and Bonnie & Clyde Package holders will enjoy a spread from Metropolitan Seafood & Gourmet featuring Old-Time picnic entrees, sides and desserts. The menu will feature a selection of Grilled All Beef Hot Dogs with traditional fixings, Hardboiled Egg & Chicken Salad on soft rolls and Grilled Flank Steak Sandwiches. Mouthwatering sides will include Grandma’s Macaroni Salad, Corn on the Cob, German Style Potato Salad and more. Finishing off the meal is fresh watermelon, freshly baked banana bread and scratch-made sugar cookies.jazz

For cocktail aficionados St-Germain French Elderflower Liqueur provides an array of specialty cocktails by mixtress Julie Reiner (Clover Club, Leyenda, Flatiron Lounge) to include: The St-Germain Cocktail: an invigorating aperitif of St-Germain, sparkling wine, and sparking mineral water with a lemon twist; Strike Up The Band: a refreshing Collins-style cocktail blending summer strawberries with gin, St- Germain and fresh citrus; and the Flappers Delight: St-Germain elderflower meets Juniper and mint in this tall summer fizz.

Also, an assortment of non-alcoholic beverages will include Belvoir Fruit Farms Lemonade and Heart of Tea Iced Tea.

For those looking for a more exclusive experience, there is the VIP St-Germain x Homepolish: Bijoux VIP Tent, presented by St-Germain and designed by Homepolish. This year marks St-Germain’s first-ever collaboration with Homepolish, the revolutionary design start-up that brings custom, attainable design to clients across the country. Homepolish and St-Germain are partnering up to bring a new and unique kind of experience to St-Germain’s classic Vive The Daylife celebration. The St-Germain x Homepolish: Bijoux is a private tent located adjacent to the dance floor with ample access to the main dance floor and prime viewing of entertainment. Accommodating up to 16 guests, this private haven will allow for bottle and table service featuring St-Germain French Elderflower Liqueur Golden-Age inspired elixirs, artisanal hors d’oeuvres, a decadent spread of baguette sandwich platters, fresh fruit, and more.

Within the St-Germain x Homepolish: Bijoux tent, guests will be embodied by the immersive designs of Homepolish, a fresh and lush style of the 1920’s contrasted with the industrial trends at the turn of the century. Like St-Germain’s chic elegance, the tent’s design is inspired by this feminine Parisian style.

The 11th Annual Jazz Age Lawn Party, which attracts 20,000 revelers to relive the zeitgeist of the 1920s, will take place next on August 13-14, from 11 a.m. to 5 p.m. at Governors Island. Founded and Hosted by Michael Arenella and His Dreamland Orchestra, it is the world’s largest outdoor musical celebration of the Jazz Age, complete with back-to-back live musical performances on two stages, dancing, Golden-Age inspired cocktails by St-Germain, cuisine and merriment.
