How does the design of performance space impact the creation of new work? How can that space transform the experience of the viewer?
A special edition of the American Theatre Wing’s “Working in Theatre Live” series has WNYC’s Kurt Andersen, novelist and host of “Studio 360″, speaking to David Rockwell, the architect for the newly renovated Hayes Theatre. He is also the collaborating designer on The Shed, the ambitious new performance space designed by Diller Scofidio + Renfro in collaboration with Rockwell Group. Rockwell will be joined by Second Stage Artistic Director Carole Rothman and The Shed Founding Artistic Director Alex Poots. This program will look at how recent developments in theater design are incubating new forms of narrative for New York’s premier stages.
The event, which is free and open to the public, will be held Monday, April 2 at the Hayes Theater (240 West 44th Street). 7:00 PM – 8:00 PM
