The American Theatre Wing and The Village Voice revealed the winners of the 63rd Annual Obie Awards. Rajiv Joseph’s Describe the Night,  produced by Atlantic Theater Company, won Best New American Play.

Hosted by Emmy and Obie-winning actor John Leguizamo, the ceremony was held at Terminal 5  and was live streamed on the official Obie Awards Twitter account. Presenters included Matthew Broderick, Lucy Liu, Oliver Platt, Andrew Garfield, Laura Benanti, Laura Osnes,  Beth Malone, David Morse, Itamar Moses, Arian Moayed, William Ivey Long, Natasha Katz, David Henry Hwang, David Zinn, Emilio Sosa, Lilli Cooper, Pixie Aventura and Chair of the Obie Judges Michael Feingold.

The ceremony also included a special performance by Stephen Trask who performed “Wig in a Box” honoring the 20th Anniversary of Hedwig and the Angry Inch. Laura Osnes also performed “What Matters Most” as part of the In Memoriam.

Suzanna, co-owns and publishes the newspaper Times Square Chronicles or T2C. At one point a working actress, she has performed in numerous productions in film, TV, cabaret and theatre. She has performed at The New Orleans Jazz festival, The United Nations and Carnegie Hall. Currently she has a screenplay in the works, which she developed with her mentor and friend the late Arthur Herzog.
