Basic Bridal Party Etiquette You Should Follow

Planning a wedding is usually a fun and enjoyable experience for the bride as she looks forward to her big day. If you are planning on having a bridal party for your wedding, as most brides do, this is a great chance to bond with your best friends and have a good time. However, issues are bound to arise along the way, and you need to know how to deal with them in order to have an easy time managing your bridal party. This article highlights a few things you need to know.

  • You can have as few or as many bridesmaids as you want

Yes, if you only want one maid, well and good. If you want fifteen, that’s still fine. It is your wedding and you can do whatever makes you happy. It is also not a must that the bridesmaids and the groomsmen are equal in number.

  • Inform your maids of their duties

It is important to ensure that your maids are aware of their duties. However, try and do this without sounding like a boss giving instructions to his/her employees. In fact, it might be better to write down a list of things that need to be done and let the maids pick what they are most comfortable doing. This way, they will be happy to do what you need them to.

  • Some maids may give you vague answers

It is not unusual for some of the maids you have chosen to not want to be part of the bridal party. However, they might not be able to give you a straight answer. If you notice this, you should be able to assure them that it is okay for them to say no. They might have their personal reasons as to why they do not want to be part of the bridal party, and you should try and not get offended. For instance, you might not have had enough time to get to know the groom’s sister, but you want her on your bridal party. Therefore, if she says no, just understand.

  • Involve your bridesmaids in choosing their attire

Your maids need to be comfortable in their attire for them to enjoy your day with you. Therefore, they should have a say in what they are going to wear. You can have your maid of honor help you select a couple of designs and let the rest of the maids agree on which one to go with. The only thing you might have to impose on them is the color of the dress, and you can be sure that they will understand. It’s your wedding after all.

  • Get them thank you gifts

It is important for your maids to know that you appreciate the sacrifices that they have made to make your big day a success. There are many gift options including jewelry, shoes, spa vouchers or even bridesmaid robes that match your bride robe. Alternatively, you can buy each maid a unique thing that you know they like. However, you do not have to spend so much on the gifts. Get something that is within your budget. Remember, it is the thought that counts.
