Legendary children’s musician Laurie Berkner will sing several fan favorites such as “Victor Vito” and “These Are My Glasses,” along with her irresistibly fun “Monster Boogie” song, read her new Monster Boogie book aloud, and sign books at a meet-and-greet for fans Tuesday, July 24, 4:00 p.m. at the Barnes & Noble in Tribeca, 97 Warren St.

This free event celebrates Simon & Schuster Books for Young Readers’ July 24th publication of Monster Boogie, written by Laurie Berkner and illustrated by Ben Clanton.

Laurie a  former preschool music teacher by day and indie rocker by night, Laurie Berkneris a singer, songwriter, lyricist, author, and founder of her own label, Two Tomatoes Records. Crowned “the undisputed queen of kindie rock” by USA Today and “the Adele of the preschool crowd” by The New York Times, Laurie is widely recognized as a pioneer in the “kindie” music genre. Monster Boogie, based on her beloved song by that title and illustrated by Ben Clanton, is Laurie’s third picture book with Simon & Schuster. The first, We Are the Dinosaurs, also illustrated by Ben Clanton, was published in March 2017, timed to the 20th anniversary of the first recording of Laurie’s chart-topping “We Are the Dinosaurs” song, and the second, Pillowland, illustrated by Camille Garoche,was published in November 2017. Laurie has released twelve bestselling, award-winning albums, was the first recording artist ever to perform in music videos on Nick Jr, appeared regularly on that network’s Jack’s Big Music Show, and helped develop the short-form animated musical preschool series Sing It, Laurie! on Sprout TV. Her music videos now appear on NBCUniversal’s Sprout House and The Laurie Berkner Band’s YouTube channel. Laurie has written the music and lyrics for three Off-Broadway children’s musicals, including Wanda’s Monster, which features the song “Monster Boogie.” Laurie tours nationwide, performing both solo and with The Laurie Berkner Band. Suzanna, co-owns and publishes the newspaper Times Square Chronicles or T2C. At one point a working actress, she has performed in numerous productions in film, TV, cabaret and theatre. She has performed at The New Orleans Jazz festival, The United Nations and Carnegie Hall. Currently she has a screenplay in the works, which she developed with her mentor and friend the late Arthur Herzog.
