Broadway Gossip Look What’s Coming… Sutton Foster, Lilla Crawford,David Byrne and Cats

Sutton Foster (Violet, Little Women, Throughly Modern Millie, Shrek and Young Frankenstein) will be staring off-broadway in a revival of Sweet Charity for the New Group this fall. Joshua Bergasse (On The Town) will create brand new choreography and Leigh Silverman will direct. The 1966 musical — with music by Cy Coleman, lyrics by Dorothy Fields and a book by Neil Simon. The 1966 musical won a Tony for its choreography by Bob Fosse and was penned musically by Cy Coleman, lyrics by Dorothy Fields and a book by Neil Simon.

David Byrne, the Talking Heads singer who helped create the 2013 operetta Here Lies Love at the Public Theater, will return next season with a new biographical musical, Saint Joan. Wonder kin Alex Timbers, who directed Here Lies Love, will reunite with Mr. Byrne for Saint Joan.

Hamilton‘s Choreographer Andy Blankenbuehler will be making Cats meow, twirl and leap to perrrrrefection. Blankenbuehler, stated; “I don’t want to break the DNA of the show, but I want to move it a little more quickly, deepen the storytelling, and strengthen the characterizations, so that when audiences see the show, it will be something they remember, but which happens in a way that is not familiar.”

The Radio City Music Hall’s New York Spectacular, featuring the Rockettes will have a brand new story line and feature Broadway alum Lilla Crawford and Disney Channel star Jenna Ortega who will share the role of the teenage lead Emily. Also joining the cast is Euan Morton.
Tony Award winner Douglas Hodge and Kelli Barrett will star as Henry Higgins and Eliza Doolittle, in the Bay Street Theatre production of My Fair Lady in Sag Harbor, NY. The cast will also feature Tony nominee Howard McGillinas Colonel Pickering, John O’Creagh as Alfred P. Doolittle and Bobby Conte Thornton as Freddy Eynsford-Hill.

She has performed at The New Orleans Jazz festival, The United Nations and Carnegie Hall. She has a screenplay and a TV show in the works, which she developed with her mentor and friend the late Arthur Herzog.
