Three-time Olivier Award winner Maria Friedman is performing at Feinstein’s / 54 Below tonight, September 20, 21, 22 & 23 at 7pm. The concert, which played a sold-out London run earlier this year, explores the work of composer-lyricist Stephen Sondheim and composer Leonard Bernstein. Lenny & Steve will compare and contrast their individual work, as well as their collaboration on West Side Story. The concert includes such songs as “New York, New York,” “I Can Cook, Too,” “Losing My Mind,” and “Send in the Clowns.”
Friedman, who is also a director, staging of the U.S. premiere of her acclaimed 2012 London revival of Merrily We Roll Along is currently at the Huntington in Boston, MA starring Eden Espinoza, Damian Humbley and Mark Umbers. Look for news of a production of Bernstein’s Mass soon.
