There is a new golden star in China Town when it comes to dinning and we cannot get enough of it. The Three Kings Restaurant Group has done it again. Down at the super hot Hotel 50 Bowery is Rice & Gold, which is taking the neighborhood by storm.
With cool vibes, delicious servings and incredibly funky décor the establishment is proving itself to be top of its game. It’s the second concept launch at the hotel following the successful The Crown rooftop bar.
The first floor restaurant designed by Wimberly Interiors is pretty amazing. From the moment you walk in there is a high-energy and it gets your creative hunger flowing. You feel like you are in a massive Hong Kong nightclub that will lead to an impressive adventure to tell your grandkids about some day.
Your culinary desires are fulfilled here in this fantasy land of eating. Featuring Asian American fare, the menu at Rice & Gold also takes cues from cuisines around the globe, showcasing the diversity and vibrancy of our modern day country. It breaks barriers of the standard fair because like the ancestors of the historical neighborhood they mix it up and pay homage to the migrants who made China Town what it is today. There are strong influences from China, as well the Philippines, Mexico, Bangladesh, Iran, Jamaica, India and more.
“It’s important to me to celebrate the different immigrant cultures that comprise our country, especially here in NYC,” says Dale Talde. “In our various kitchens alone, I am reminded every day of how multicultural we are as a nation. It’s important to me to recognize this – especially right now.”
The Rice & Gold dinner menu is comprised of a selection of dim sum, appetizers, vegetables, large format entrees, rice and noodles, with highlights including: Bibingka with Chicken Liver Mousse; Lobster and Scallop Har Gow with Squid Ink, Leek and Sauce Americane; Whole Jerk Roast Duck with Jerk-hoisin sauce, Pickled Cucumber, Scallion and Steamed Buns; Rabbit Vindaloo with Fall Squash, Brussels Sprouts and Basmati Rice; Fideos with Chorizo, Clam, Mussel, Paprika-Dashi and Green Goddess; and Corn Beef Tongue Skewer with Adobo Onion, Horseradish and Sorghum Soy.
Musts for us include divine Lobster Egg Rolls, the superb Crispy Mapo Tofu Dumplings and Cured Salmon Crudo.
On the cocktail front, menu highlights include the Endless Summer, which takes its cue from the Paloma, with Tequila, Yuzu Juice, Grapefruit Juice, Pear Shrub and Agave Syrup; the Little Pink Corvette with Hibiscus Syrup, Sake and Prosecco; and Miranda’s Right, with Rittenhouse Rye, Amaro, Triple Sec and Chocolate Bitters. The wine list is also impressive along with an ample sake presentation.

The restaurant is open seven days a week, serving breakfast from 7AM – 10AM, M-F and 7AM – 12PM on weekends; and dinner from 5PM to 12AM.
