For the past twenty-six years, after her mother was diagnosed with leukemia, artist/designer, Jane Elissa has been raising money for Leukemia and Cancer research. Her annual benefit was held Monday night at the New York Marriott Marquis Hotel in Times Square. Featuring Broadway’s Sean McDemott (Miss Saigon, Chicago, StarlightExpress and many others. He was also on the Guiding Light), Michael Lanning (Civil War and Bonnie and Clyde), Jackie Zeman (General Hospital), Missy Keene, Kristen Alderson (One Life to Live and General Hospital) and others the guests were completely entertained. At my table was a mother, her two young girls, there nanny and her friend. It was the two young girls who did not want to leave and wanted to come back next year.
Jane created an award called the Shining Star award. This year Steve Kaufman (Walgreens/Duane Reade) was recognized for all he does both for the Broadway community but also Leukemia.
Dale Badway, a Tony winning producer on Pippin, American in Paris, Bonnie and Clyde and Porgy and Bess was honored with the first ever Charlotte Myers recognition award. Dale has been creating the talent portion of the event along with Ken Lundie (Radio City musical director).
Jane has been voluntarily raising money for cancer and leukemia research through her benefits and designs. This Christmas she has created the Hunk Stocking and all of these items give back.
Jane embodies the spirit of Christmas and of giving.
