Dlodlo (“dodo”) V1, is a the newest Virtual Reality headset to hit the market. Leave it to China to make those clunky goggle like versions look cool and fashionable. Just like a pair trendy sunglasses, you expect the wearer to flip them down and say Bond, James bond.
The V1 is also light, weighing just 3.1 ounces, half the weight of the iPhone 6s Plus. The Samsung Gear weighs 10.56 and the HTV Vibe and Oculus Rift are even more combursome. The V1 is so small you can fold it up and put it in your pocket for quick getaways. Also with the Oculus and Vibe you have to be tethered to a computer and with the gear you must own a Samsung phone. The V1 only needs a smart phone to download an app. The V1 also has 2K and Full HD display, which is the highest on the market. The field of view is 110 degrees, there’s a 120Hz refresh rate, two 9-axis sensors and a tracking time of less than 10ms.
The pricing for the V1 is more than the Gear at $99.00 but at $599.99 it is lower than the Vibe $600 and Rift $800 and doesn’t require bulky computers which makes traveling with your new toy rather difficult.
Dlodlo will have a kickstarter campaign as well as be available on the market next year. Virtual Reality is here to stay and that is something for Q.
