It was a beautiful night for fashion royalty last week. Special guests gathered for a magical evening at the stunning landmark home of Halston on the Upper East Side for a grand celebration.
With roaring applause Michèle Gerber Klein’s book was toasted at the designer’s former grand palace. The room with divine design by Paul Rudolph was filled with white orchids and candles as attendees at the soiree discussed the new biography.
The book, Charles James: Portrait of an Unreasonable Man, certainly is the talk of the town. The lovely author greeted guests and signed copies of the novel that is on shelves now. The pages are inspired by the discovery of long-overlooked interviews conducted over time. This is the first biography of the visionary fashion designer Charles James.
Christian Dior described him as the inspiration for the “New Look.” Salvador Dalí called his work “soft sculpture,” and Virginia Woolf exclaimed, “He is a genius.”
Get ready to read some glorious pages this summer.
