Go Inside The Fifth Annual  Broadway and Ballet Hero Awards

Monday night Stage 48 hosted the Fifth Annual  Broadway and Ballet Hero Awards. HIV Experience Resources Organization (HERO) is a volunteer-based non profit 501 c-3 organization founded by Michael Cavnaugh in 2009. Each year the Hero Awards presents outstanding talent from Broadway and the dance world.

This year  award recipients from Broadway were  Lillias White and Bonnie Milligan.

Lillias White bought the house down with “Don’t Rain On My Parade”, from Funny Girl.  She proudly introduced the song by telling the audience that it was her audition song when she was starting out. The success she has earned proves that the song was a good choice for her, because it landed her some wonderful roles on Broadway.

Bonnie Milligan won for outstanding Broadway Debut (Head Over Heels). After hearing her sing “Beautiful” from the show, I can see why she was chosen to receive the Hero award. She is a major rising talent.

Tara Martinez, Luis Villabon

The evening was filled with talented  singers and  dancers dancing behind them. The duet with vocalist Luis Billabon and Tara Martinez singing “The Prayer” and  dancers Brecke Swan and Nathaniel Dolquist was a stand out as one of the highlights of the evening.

Ruby Lewis, Ian Ward
