Three people, two men in their 50s and a woman in her 20s were arrested outside the Holland tunnel after police found a huge cache of weapons in their vehicle. Officers then found multiple loaded guns, rifles, knives, ballistic vests and a camouflage helmet. Around 2,000 rounds of ammunition were also discovered inside, according to reports.
The suspects are most likely from Pennsylvania, were stopped on the New Jersey side of the tunnel around 8am. This incident is said to be heroin related as drugs were in the vehicle along with the guns. The told police officers they were headed to Queens to shoot a rival dealer. The suspects also said they wanted to save a friend who is on heroin and being held against her will. Police are looking for the possible woman in Queens. The Joint Terrorism Task Force said they were monitoring the situation on Twitter this morning.
The Holland Tunnel has more than 34million vehicles use it every year.
