There is nothing more glamorous than Oscar weekend in Hollywood. An undeniable passion is tasted in the air even while sitting stuck in the never-ending traffic on the way to events.
This year the anticipation for the awards show started building early with hosted lounges and suites opening up several days before the ceremony. The stunning beauty of legendary actress Grace Kelly was captured in a styling suite holding jewels and watches designed in her honor by Mont Blanc. Every gorgeous pink gold piece displayed in the elaborately decorated room at The Beverly Wilshire Hotel was a dream for any nominee to wear on the red carpet.
A quick drive down Rodeo Drive and Wilshire lead to the next pre-Oscar lounge hosted by Fortunate Angels at The Petersen Auto Museum. It was certainly a reflection of Los Angeles culture featuring cars, rooftop sunsets and swag bags full of eco-friendly products.
On the day before Oscars things get incredibly busy. Calculating in time to drive from point to point is like solving an ancient riddle. But, a good way to start the day is with yoga and hike on the Santa Monica stairs. Follow it up with a clarifying facial at Celebrity Laser Spa in Brentwood. Your post-workout skin will glow and you never know whom you will run in to as you grab your second Coffee Bean latte of the morning.
Caffeine helps stimulate a quick wardrobe change before attending the highly anticipated annual Makeup Artists and Hairstylists Symposium at the Academy of Motion Picture Arts and Sciences. This years nominees for the films Albert Nobbs, The Iron Lady and Harry Potter and The Deathly Hallows Part Two were simply a pleasure to meet. Nothing could have been more delightful than the surprise nominated guests of honor Meryl Streep and Glenn Close at one of Oscar’s hottest tickets in town.
Oscar Sunday also ends up being a whirlwind of excitement. You may become a bit worried about leaving the area due to traffic on a day like this; so hike Runyon to relieve the tension followed by a power smoothie at The Roosevelt Hotel pool. It is amazing seeing all the activity going on for the ceremony next door at The Kodak Theater.
Topping off Oscar Sunday with a screening party at Universal Studios followed by an after-party at a Hollywood Hills mansion is a priceless experience. Who knew we could dance the night away in our grandmother’s vintage ballroom gown with this much grace.
Thank you Hollywood for another wonderful Oscars. The magic always goes beyond the movie screen in this town.
