  • Size

The most essential factor that you need to think through when buying a small cooker is what size to get. Slow cookers differin size from very small to very large. However, if you are looking for the best small slow cooker there are lots of models where you can choose from. But take note, consider buying a small model if you’re only serving one or two people.

Either way,if you are planning to prepare large chunks of meats, considerbuying an at least six quarts slow cooker. And if you’re preparing meals for a family of 3 to 5 a slow cooker that is 4to 6 quarts is worth considering.

  • Control and Temperature Settings

Most slow cookers come with two temperature settings (low and high). You may want to invest ina model that features a keep warm setting. In fact, this setting is very convenient for keeping your food warm especially when it’s fully cooked.

  • Shape

Slow cookers are rectangular, round, and oblong inshape. Round slow cookers are perfect for preparing any food excluding long pieces of meat. While oval shaped cookers, on the other hand, will accommodate a roast, ribs, and chicken. Plus, they are much better than round shaped slow cookers.

  • Lid

The majority of slow cookers are equipped with glass lid, though there are some models that featurea metal and plastic lid. If possible go for a cooker with a glass lid. Why? Because glass lids keepmore heat and heavier than plastic ones. And since it is transparent you’ll be able to check the food you’re cooking without removing the lid.

Either way, some lids comewith a seal which is useful in preventing spills. However, many customers prefer to use a lid that doesn’t come with a seal since it is easier to clean.

  • Timer

Investing ina slow cooker that has a timer whether it is a choice concerning preset cooking periods or in the form of digital timers is a good decision. Even so, if you plan to be home and switch off your appliance at the right time, having a slow cooker with a built-in timer will prevent your foods from overcooking.

There you have it, some of the factors/things that you need to consider when buying whether a large or small cooker. Rest assured that when you consider these things you’ll definitely have the best slow cooker that can help you in preparing delicious foods with ease.
