How To Help Your Adult Children

Published

on

As parents, your main job is to support your children and help them grow into happy, healthy, successful adults. You do this by providing guidance, advice, and practical things like food, clothing, and shelter. You’ll also do this by giving them love and letting them know you’re there for them.

None of this changes just because they get older, and although parents would hope their adult children are equipped with all the knowledge they need to live their own lives well, sometimes they will be faced with challenges, and it could be that the parents need to be there to help them. With that in mind, here are some of the best ways to help your adult children.

Have Open Communication

One of the very best things parents can do for their children at any age, and certainly as they grow into adults, is to make sure the children are aware they can talk to the parents about anything and everything. Keep your communication channels open at all times. Ensuring that you can both have frank and honest discussions about whatever it is you need to talk about is vital. When your child talks to you, make sure you don’t judge and listen carefully before offering advice.

If you can have these open communication channels, your adult child is more likely to come to you when they have a problem, whether it’s something serious like needing drink driving solicitors or something smaller like wanting some dating advice. After all, you can only help if you know what the issue is in the first place.

Financial Guidance

One of the biggest issues many adults have is linked to money. Once they start earning money, it can be hard to deal with it responsibly, especially if they have no major bills to pay and they are still living at home. However, this is a bad habit to get into, and it can lead to some big problems in life. Debt can be debilitating, and it’s an easy thing to get into.

This is why you should offer financial guidance to your adult children. Give them practical help when it comes to budgeting and saving and ensure they understand how to build a strong foundation for their future.

It might be that your adult children have some financial problems and need some help. How you handle this will be your choice, but if you decide to loan them money, make sure you have a proper agreement in place and ensure they pay you back – this will help them be more responsible and help you financially too.

Encourage Independence

It’s hard to let children grow up and be their own person; as a parent, you’ll always want to guide them, and you might have ideas about what they should or should not be doing. When they are children, you can have your say and do things to stop certain behavior or encourage it. However, when your children are adults, you no longer have such control, and that’s a good thing – your children need to learn how to be independent.

To help with this, you need to be encouraging about their choices and help them only when they ask you to. It’s important that they work things out independently and learn from their mistakes, but they also need to know you are there for them when they need you.

Choosing The Perfect Battery Charger: A Comprehensive Guide

Published

on

By

Given the complexity of technology and its ever-evolving nature, battery chargers are often viewed superficially, as mere power providing adjuncts. However, to truly grasp the essence of these devices and how they function optimally requires a thorough understanding of the subject. The significance of pairing the correct battery with its compatible charger cannot be overstated for the risk of inefficient charging and consequential damage is too great. From this comprehensive guide, expect to delve deep into the world of batteries and chargers, various types available in the market, factors to consider when purchasing, a glance at the reputable brands, and a look into what the future holds for battery charging technology.

Understanding Batteries and How They Work

The battery universe is expansive, with the more known types including alkaline, lithium-ion, and nickel-metal hydride. Each variety offers its own performance prowess based on their unique chemical construction, demanding a charger that matches their natural disposition for compatible interaction and maximum efficiency. Like pieces of a puzzle, certain batteries and chargers fit together seamlessly, while others don’t, resulting in suboptimal charging. To complicate matters, complex information often parallels misinformation, giving rise to common misconceptions—the primary one being batteries and chargers being universally interchangeable. In reality, the use of incompatible chargers can lead to shorter battery lifespan and avoiding lithium battery risks becomes especially important. Lithium batteries, for instance, require specific chargers designed to manage their charging cycles and prevent overcharging, which can lead to overheating and potential fire hazards.

Reader’s Guide to Different Types of Battery Chargers

Navigating through the vast sea of battery chargers can be a daunting task. With options ranging from simple wall plug chargers, intelligent chargers that utilise advanced circuits, solar chargers capitalising on sustainable energy, to fast chargers that make your battery achieve full potential in no time—choosing the right type can be overwhelming. Wall plug chargers are common household items but may not offer the smart technology features that can optimise charging efficiency. Intelligent chargers, on the other hand, offer sophisticated mechanisms that can detect the battery level and adjust the charging accordingly. Solar chargers are fantastic eco-friendly alternatives harnessing the endless power of the sun, while fast chargers are modern-life necessities reducing the wait time drastically. The key here is to understand which charger works best with which battery type, to drive maximum efficiency and operational longevity.

Factors to Consider While Choosing a Battery Charger

Battery type and capacity, charger’s output level, charging rate, portability, size, along with crucial safety features, create a checklist of vital factors to consider when purchasing a battery charger. For example, lithium batteries, widely used in consumer electronics, require specific chargers designed to manage lithium battery risks adequately. The charger’s output and charging rate directly influence how swiftly your device gets powered up, making it crucial for anyone with time constraints. For the globetrotters or those always on the move, portable and compact chargers are lifesavers, providing power on-the-go. Safety features like guards against overcharging, overheating or short-circuits are non-negotiable considerations, assisting in the prevention of potential device damage and ensuring user safety.

Top Battery Charger Brands On The Market

The battery charger market, brimming with numerous brands like Duracell, Energizer, Anker and Nitecore, presents shoppers with a broad spectrum of options. Duracell is a household name, celebrated for its reliable performance. Energizer, another distinguished brand, takes pride in their sustainable initiatives. Anker, a younger entrant, has gained swift recognition for its advanced tech offerings. Nitecore, primarily catering to outdoor and tactical users, is noted for its durability and versatility. Authentic customer reviews, careful feature evaluation, brand reputation and cost-effectiveness analysis synergise to facilitate an informed choice. Remember, understanding the competitive strengths and unique features of each product offering will aid you in choosing a battery charger that best suits your needs.

Future Evolution: Smart Chargers and More

The future of battery chargers pulsates with promise. Leading the charge are smart chargers that auto-adjust the charging rate in response to the battery level, minimising any chance of overcharging, improving battery life, and ensuring utmost safety. The Abbot of Athos and The Consulate Midtown A Tale of How Food Can Bring Peace

Published

on

Greece and Macedonia, have had decades of tension, but yesterday at The Consulate Midtown, 44 West 56th Street The Holy Father, Geron Nektarios, Abbot of the Kalyve of Holy Cross in Skete of Saint Anne in Mount Athos and Kiril Mihajlov, showed how great food and conversation can give way to peace.

The Holy Father, Geron Nektarios, Abbot of the Kalyve of Holy Cross in Skete of Saint Anne in Mount Athos, Kiril Mihajlov

I met the Abbott in Greece last summer and he graciously agreed to have lunch with me and some guests I invited, before he returned to Greece.

Margarita Parlionas, Captain John Woodall

Margarita Parlionas is a business owner, who brought with her Captain John Woodall who runs Camp4Heroes, a place where Vets can get some much needed help.

Suzanna Bowling, The Holy Father, Geron Nektarios, Abbot of the Kalyve of Holy Cross in Skete of Saint Anne in Mount Athos, Kiril Mihajlov and George Tower

George Tower, is contributing writer for the, T2C, and speaks fluent Greek.

The Abbot, Margarita and Captain Woodall all supped on the Hangover Burger ($28) 8oz grilled patty, lettuce, tomato, caramelized onions, topped with a fried egg on a brioche bun, which they all claimed was the best burger they had ever had.

George had the Salmon Eggs Benedict ($26) poached eggs, smoked salmon, toasted brioche, espelette hollandaise sauce and was completely happy.

T2C’s Suzanna Bowling had her favorite Avocado Toast with Bacon ($24) scrambled eggs, Canadian bacon and mixed greens. If you want sensational food with a elegant atmosphere, I highly recommend The Consulate Midtown.

The Abbot gifted a book about his life written in both Greek and English to the guests.

The Abbott has been in America since April visiting Boston, Washington, Chicago, Milwaukee, The Mayo Clinic, Rochester, Queens and NYC. His message is of gratitude, love and healing. He has been raising funds to expand and offer more to men who want a spiritual retreat, which is what Mount Athos does.
