How To Make Your Own Indie Film on a Budget

How To Make Your Own Indie Film on a Budget

If you are thinking of making your own Indie film on a budget, you need to take into consideration a number of things. Making an Indie film can look like an interesting and fun project, but you have to be organized and ready to work hard for making it happen.

Just keep in mind the following things.

1. Come up with an Interesting Story

The most important thing when you want to make a movie is to have a great story for your audience. There are several sources where you can get some nice ideas. For example, there are various books in the market describing screenplay, plot structure and rules. Or you can get some ideas from other movies, but make sure to create your own special movie. You need to remember though to produce a quality story, otherwise your audience won’t be interested in it.

2. Create the Characters

The characters can make the scenes and the whole film look beautiful within a video studio rental. You need to motivate your actors to play their roles based on certain personalities. For example, you can write a full bio for each of your characters, in order to make them understand their role better. Moreover, you need to direct your actors, in order to empower them to bring out

certain emotions in every scene. The actors need to play their roles in a natural way in order for your film to be successful.

3. Decide on a Perfect Location

Choose locations that you can handle in an easy way; before deciding a certain location, make sure to check the whole area, for lighting, space, noisiness and more. If you wish, you can also place an advertisement to find people who can rent their houses for shooting at their homes. Just remember to choose your spaces wisely, in order to be able to accommodate a good shoot schedule.

4. Make Wonderful Scenes

You can start by writing down every scene you have in your mind, by focusing on every detail. Draw your scenes and add anything you wish on it, like actors, things. Once you have a big selection of scenes, just pick up the ones you like the most to make a successful film.

5. Record the Sound Effects

The sounds need to be of high quality; for instance, you should have special sound effects for people walking, running, opening or closing doors. You can record all these sounds with your microphone. Your resources may be marvelous, but spend some of them on getting a really great sound – in production and post. Make sure to hire a professional to do these things for you.

6. Coordinate the Whole Process

Prepare the set by buying all the necessary things to make great scenes. Keep an eye also in colors; choose the most suitable color combinations for items in your scene. Don’t forget to match also the colors of your actors’ clothes. Colors are very important in a play, because it can make it look more vivid.

Even though it might look a difficult task to make a successful low budget film, it can be an easy and fun project. Just make sure to make a good research; look for things that you can find with good prices or for free. Keep a plan in mind and work for it until you make it happen. Don’t forget to make it look like a top’ movie.
