The 84th annual ceremony honored Idina Menzel with the Distinguished Achievement in Musical Theater Award and Glenda Jackson won THE DISTINGUISHED PERFORMANCE AWARD.
Mean Girls director Casey Nicholaw with the Founders Award for Excellence in Directing
and the National Endowment for the Arts with the Unique Contribution to the Theater Award.
The 2018 Drama League Awards took place this afternoon May 18 at the Marriott Marquis Times Square. Taylor Louderman, Ashley Park, and Kate Rockwell, “the Plastics” in Broadway’s Mean Girls, co-hosted the ceremony.
The awards honor Broadway and Off-Broadway productions and performances, with the ceremony culminating in the presentation of the Distinguished Performance Award, which goes to one artist a year and can only be won once in an artist’s lifetime. This year, the League recognized 55 actors as nominees for the distinction.
