Inside Tech with Tiktok Influencer Corina Layton

Published

on

What is TikTok without the audience? Streaming wars have been looking at some big obstacles and AI is also a concern. Now individual rights seem to be getting more compromised.

Several countries are raising in alarm among TikTok influencers who rely on the platform to create and share engaging content with their followers. This applies to a bunch of folks in different industries.

On March 23, Shou Chew, CEO of TikTok, was interrogated by the House Energy and Commerce Committee. He provided a five-hour testimony stating that TikTok is taking every precaution to safeguard teens, protect US user data from foreign access, and be as transparent as possible in concern to third-party monitors.

Despite Chew’s assurances, most countries are still not convinced. India banned TikTok in 2020, and most other countries — including the US — have prohibited their government officials from having TikTok on their cell phones. Montana legislatures recently approved a bill to block TikTok in the state.

With the possibility of a TikTok ban looming, many are wondering what impact this will have on industries and the education of millions of viewers who have come to rely on TikTok for informative and entertaining content. Among these influencers are registered dental hygienists, who have taken to the app to share important information on maintaining a healthy mouth and body.

Despite the continuous uncertainty of banning TikTok in the US or not, top influencers are staying optimistic. It’s a source of income for many. According to one social media management firm, “37 percent of TikTok users in the US earn $100,000 or more yearly.”

TikTok has become a powerful platform for education, with countless individuals and organizations using it to share information and promote learning. For registered dental hygienists like Corina Layton, it has been an invaluable tool for raising awareness about the importance of oral health. Through short, engaging videos, dental hygienists have been able to reach millions of viewers, many of whom may not have been exposed to this information otherwise.

“I started to pursue social media on a serious level when I realized there was a huge lack of dental knowledge in the general population,” says Layton. “Those were the videos that took off, and I continued to create that type of content in hopes to educate.”

Taylor and Tay Lautner Get Summer Ready with STEM

Published

on

Taylor and Tay Lautner are enjoying summertime and dealing with fewer bugs this season with the help of the STEM™ Attracts & Traps Flying Insects Light Trap, a solution that works 24/7 against house flies, fruit flies, gnats, moths and mosquitoes.

Taylor and Tay Lautner

As a brand that knows a thing or two about being bugged, STEM recently uncovered through a survey of U.S. adults who are married or in a domestic partnership that bugs bother them more than their partner’s annoying habits, and that they get more irritable with their partner when in the presence of bugs.

That’s why STEM is partnering with Taylor and Tay Lautner to highlight how it can help alleviate pest annoyances this summer – because even though couples in the happiest of relationships may bug one another sometimes, the one thing they won’t be annoyed by is bugs thanks to the STEM Flying Insects Light Trap.

Now, the Lautners can enjoy the little things this summer, like leaving their doors and windows open (something that used to bug Tay!), without being bothered by house flies, fruit flies, gnats, moths and mosquitoes.

Royal Caribbean has named GRAMMY-winning artist Meghan Trainor as the godmother of the new Utopia of the Seas.

The duo is celebrating the collab with an invitation for fans to see Trainor name the ultimate short getaway and perform live on a 3-night celebration just days before the new vacation’s official July 19 debut. The party kicks off in Port Canaveral, Florida, where Utopia will sail 3- and 4-night vacations to Royal Caribbean’s award-winning private destination, Perfect Day at CocoCay and Nassau, The Bahamas.

Until today, July 7, at 11:59 p.m. EDT, fans can enter for their chance to join the celebration and find the giveaway’s official rules on Royal Caribbean’s Instagram channel.

On deck for the 3-night cruise is one party after the next, from a live performance on Utopia by the “Timeless” singer while at Royal Caribbean’s award-winning private island destination, Perfect Day at CocoCay in The Bahamas to the one-and-only naming party joined by the newly named godmother. It all takes place just days before the new vacation’s official July 19 debut in Port Canaveral (Orlando), Florida.

“It’s an incredible honor to join the Royal Caribbean family as godmother of Utopia of the Seas and set the tone for the parties to come,” said Meghan Trainor. “The best part is that we get to bring that weekend energy to the stage with my family and fans. What’s better than being on vacation with the people you love and dancing to your favorite music? Let’s make some beautiful memories and get this party started!”

Kicking off the 3-night celebration, Royal Caribbean and Trainor will officially name Utopia in the company of special guests, the ship’s crew members, media, partners and 52 fans – one for every weekend of the year – and their guests. Trainor, as godmother, will join a longstanding maritime tradition when she bestows safekeeping onto the ultimate short getaway, its crew and the millions who will vacation on Utopia for years to come. Keeping the party going will be Trainor’s exclusive show in the iconic open-air AquaTheater, and fans will also be able to slip behind the velvet ropes to meet the star in person.

“Utopia of the Seas is where making the most of the weekend and every moment are more than a state a mind, they’re a reality any day of the week. This is the short getaway that’s all about celebrations, celebrating friends, family and the memories you make together,” said Michael Bayley, president and CEO, Royal Caribbean International. “Meghan embodies that in every way, from who she is to how she shares her music with the world, making her the perfect godmother to match Utopia’s big weekend energy. We’re thrilled to welcome her to the family and host a party of epic proportions fit for the ultimate short getaway.”

The celebration will set the tone for vacations on Utopia, welcoming adventurers to make more memories on short getaways than ever before with the first of its kind to debut with 3-night weekend and 4-night weekday vacationers. Friends and families can celebrate any occasion or just getting away their way with a lineup of experiences that brings unmatched weekend energy to the table. There’s everything from more than 40 ways to dine, drink and party, including a lineup of parties only on Utopia, two casinos and Royal Railway – Utopia Station, a first-of-its-kind immersive train car dining experience; to more pools than the days to count, thrills; show-stopping entertainment across air, ice, water and stage; and more.

Getting Summer Ready With Hair and Nails

Published

on

My hair was totally out of control and I desperately needed it cut. My friend Margarita recommended Angela Niafa. She works at Cheveux Atelier, 1316 1St Ave. I was so impressed by the place as it was clean, beautifully decorated and has reasonable prices that will not break your piggy bank.

They even have a special of 20% off for new clients.

What makes Angela so special is she listens to you. Getting my hair cut scares me as my hair can make me or break me. Within one hour I had a Prince telling me I was chic, but more importantly I felt put together. I watched as two other women were made to look their best. Now that makes me give Angela a shout out.

Getting nails done in the city use to be a breeze, but now prices have gone through the roof and the work, not so great. I went onto Groupon and got a gel manicure for $48 orginally $60. I headed to Marc Joseph Salon at 147 West 40th Street. There I got Maria, who was a joy. She took care of me and made my hands feel very special, as she took exquisite care. The salon itself is clean, well laid out and offers wine if you so choose. I recommend Maria highly and now am ready for summer.
