Joan Jaffe The Newest Member in Orange Is The New Black

Joan Jaffe has performed on the stage, screen & tv. She is a three time MAC Award nominee and the 2012 MAC Award winner for best musical comedy performer for her show Joan Jaffe’s MAN-ha-ha-ha-TAN. Joan was named one of the top 15 in New York Cabaret 2010 by Kevin Scot Hall for her critically acclaimed cd JOANJAFFE Sings Funny….  On screen, you can see her as The Senior Aerobiciser in Mozart In The Jungle, Saturday Night Live, Late Night With Conn O’ Brien and many others. Her newest gig is for the hottest show around, Orange Is The New Black. Joan plays Gail Abbot – a very old prisoner, in episodes 5, 19 & 11 on Season 6. You can see her on the Netflix hit. Meet this newest member.

Ms. Jaffe, also understudied Chita Rivera and was in the Broadway productions of Much Ado About Nothing and Bajour. Joan was the recipient of SAG’s Joseph C. Riley Award. Theatrical union affiliations are Actors’ Equity Association and SAG/AFTRA. A past vice-chair of the Screen Actors Guild Conservatory, she was also an instructor of “On Camera Commercials”. She was performance director of the Steps On Broadway Vocal Performance Workshop For Dancers and also performance director of the M&J Vocal Workshop. Joan is a member of the theatrical cooperative Polaris North.

Suzanna, co-owns and publishes the newspaper Times Square Chronicles or T2C. At one point a working actress, she has performed in numerous productions in film, TV, cabaret, opera and theatre. She has performed at The New Orleans Jazz festival, The United Nations and Carnegie Hall. She has a screenplay and a TV show in the works, which she developed with her mentor and friend the late Arthur Herzog.
