Kids’ Gaming Obsession Isn’t Exactly About the Games

Kids’ Gaming Obsession Isn’t Exactly About the Games

If you believe that your child has a gaming obsession, then this may concern you. You might feel as though you are never really going to be able to give your child a good education because they are constantly gaming and they are missing out on their education too. This is not the case, and in reality, your kid’s addiction to gaming might not be about the game itself.

Fortnite and Other Addictive Games

There are so many addictive games out there and at times you may be concerned about them affecting your child’s mental health. You need to remember that in some instances, it isn’t the game that is addictive. It’s actually the certain elements of the game that are making them want to play. For example, when they are playing Fortnite, are they excited to level up their character? If so then they are just seeking a reward that they can probably get from any other game. It’s just that they have taken a liking to that one, and find it gratifying. If they are talking to their friends all the time, then it may be that they are finally finding a connection and they are starting to feel included. Either way, it’s important to know that it isn’t always the game itself that’s addictive.

Encouraging them to Play Educational Games

There are so many educational games for children out there for you to experiment with and some of them may give your child the positive outcome that they are looking for. Of course, if you have never played an educational game before then you may think that they are just like any other online game and that there is absolutely nothing to be gained from them, however; this is not the case at all & in fact, they are great for stimulating your child’s mind. Educational games are fully designed to show your child that it’s possible to have fun while learning, so they are certainly always a great investment.

Talk with Them

Another thing that you need to do if you are concerned about your child having a gaming addiction is just talk with them. When you do, you will soon find that they open up and that they are also willing to explain the way that they feel. This may take some time but you should eventually be able to get to the root of how they feel and what is drawing them to the game. If you are worried about child gaming addiction and you want to do something about this then you can easily sit and talk with them about limiting their time. Try and cut down on their gaming by an hour a day at first and distract them with another type of activity. This will help them to focus on something else and it will also surely but surely limit their gaming time.
