In 2012, Gray first became involved with Natasha, Pierre, & the Great Comet of 1812, aa Countess Hélène Bezukhova in the musical’s performances at the Off-Off-Broadway Ars Nova Theater. Gray continued with Great Comet when it moved to Kazino and when it opened on Broadway. Gray was awarded a 2017 Theatre World Award for her performance as Hélène.]

In 2014, Gray reprised her leading role as Zoe in An Octoroon at Soho Repertory Theatre (she had previously performed as Zoe in 2010 at P.S.122).

In 2016, Gray portrayed Persephone in New York Theatre Workshop’s production of the new musical Hadestown, based on Anaïs Mitchell’s album of the same name. Gray is again being directed by Rachel Chavkin, whom she collaborated with during Great Comet.

Playing against Gray is Patrick Page as Hades. Page originated the role of Norman Osborn/The Green Goblin in Spider-Man: Turn Off the Dark with Reeve Carney. Page’s Broadway credits include originating the role of The Grinch in Dr. Seuss’ How the Grinch Stole Christmas!, Scar in The Lion King, Lumière in Disney’s Beauty and the Beast and many others.

Mr. Page and Ms. Gary originated the role of Hades in productions of Hadestown at the New York Theatre Workshop, at the Citadel Theatre in Edmonton, and at London’s Royal National Theatre.

Hadestown begins previews this Friday, March 22nd Walter Kerr Theatre. Opening night is set for April 17th.

Suzanna, co-owns and publishes the newspaper Times Square Chronicles or T2C. At one point a working actress, she has performed in numerous productions in film, TV, cabaret and theatre. She has performed at The New Orleans Jazz festival, The United Nations and Carnegie Hall. Currently she has a screenplay in the works, which she developed with her mentor and friend the late Arthur Herzog.
