Lupita Nyong’o looked vibrant on the Red Carpet, while attending the Manhattan premiere of “Loving” on Wednesday. Two nights earlier, Lupita got emotional discussing how she went from intern to star with her “Queen of Katwe” director Mira Nair. ‘This is what I do best by the way, cry,’ Nyong’o joked while accepting her ELLE Women in Hollywood Award in Los Angeles.
Nyong’o plays Harriet, the mother of Ugandan chess prodigy Phiona Mutesi (Madina Nalwanga) in “Queen of Katwe.” Disney’s biopic is not doing well having only earned $8.1M back from its $15M budget since opening last month.
