On Monday November 18th, at the Times Square Marriott Marquis Hotel, The 32nd Jane Elissa Extravaganza was held to benefit the Jane Elissa Endowment Fund for Leukemia/Lymphoma Research, Cancer, Broadway Cares/Equity Fights AIDS and other charitable causes.

This year was extremely hard for Jane. Not only was this her last benefit, but her longtime friend Perry, passed away just a few days earlier. But with a smile Jane raised funds for others in need.
Broadway and Mexican star Mauricio Martinez, presented the Heart of Gold Award goes to Leslie Greenberg, whose son Max Greenburg directed the Extravaganza.

Then Mauricio sang the sexiest version of Besame Mucho, I have ever heard.
Followed by Alejate, a song Jane requested.
Martinez is a Mexican actor and singer. His solo show in August, De México To Broadway at Feinstein’s/54 Below was sold-out. This stage, screen and music star, made his Broadway debut as Emilio Estefan in On Your Feet! and took the show on tour. He is well known for his work in Mexican telenovelas and films. You can currently see him in Netflix’s Emmy-winning El Vato.

Martinez is also a 4 time Cancer survivor, so this benefit was personal for him.

Mr. Martinez was accompanied by Broadway, Mexican director, composer, arranger & orchestrator Jaime Lozano, who is considered by Hamilton’s Lin-Manuel Miranda as the “next big thing”. Jaime, will be making his Green Room 42 debut following his recent sold out concerts at Joe’s Pub and Two River Theater, with a musical theatre gala entitled “Songs by an Immigrant” featuring and all-Latino line up of Broadway stars. The show in which Mauricio is a part of takes place this Sunday at The Green Room 42 at 9:30.
This is a show not to be missed.
