Yiqing Zhao

Yiqing Zhao (www.yiqingzhao.com) (@yiqingzhao1222)

Yiqing Zhao is an actress/singer/playwright based in New York City. She made her regional theatre debut in musical Utopia Parkway, with Single Carrot Theatre in Baltimore, and her NY theatre debut with Theatre for the New City, in Float The Musical, as a part of the 2015 Dream Up Festival. Other theatre credits include Vagina Monologues in Chevy Chase Auditorium in Johns Hopkins Hospital, Twelve Angry Women at Roebuck Theatre, Rapture, Blister, Burn at Stella Adler Studio of Acting. She performed at Merkin Concert Hall in the 2018 Spring Festival Gala as a soloist.

Yiqing played a leading part of an indie series “ Sisterhood: Libertad” and a supporting part of a feature film “Orchard Beach”. She recently collaborated with Min Ding, an internationally-awarded director, starred in her film “ The Collector”, and sang the soundtrack.

Yiqing switched to performing in 2016, after she graduated from Johns Hopkins University with a master’s degree in public health and minor in theatre arts. Yiqing then resumed her training in the 2-year Conservatory Program at Stella Adler Studio of Acting.

Lost and Found is Yiqing’s first play, and its first draft was conceived as a thesis for a playwriting class she took when she was a student at Johns Hopkins. The story is fictional, but originates from her high school story. She got the idea and penned the first few pages when she was strolling in Baltimore Museum of Art and suddenly set her eyes on a painting of a ballerina. This production features an all-Asian cast.

Lost and Found begins after a dark secret has been revealed, Tommy separates with his girlfriend. Meanwhile, he meets with Maggie, now a successful writer, who was in
love with him in high school. As he is inspired by Maggie and is about to start a business with her, he is devastated by the multiple blows that come at him. Will he survive?

Lost and Found: is part of the NY SummerFest at The Hudson Theatre Guild, 441 West 26 Street (between 9th and 10th Avenues). Performances are July 30th at 9pm, Aug 1st at 9pm and the 4th at 6pm.
