Leading names from both sides of the Atlantic will come together this April in London to develop a new musical. Tony Award-nominated singer & actress Melissa Errico will star in the workshop of The Gold Room which features original music by five-time Grammy nominee Michael Feinstein and book & lyrics by Walking With Dinosaurs writer Warner Brown. Conceived originally by Brown, The Gold Room explores a night behind closed doors in the life of Woolworth heiress Barbara Hutton.

 Michael Feinstein ,

Internationally renowned director & Tony Award-nominee Jeremy Sams (Noises Off, The Wizard of Oz, The Sound of Music) will helm the workshop. The score is contemporary and sophisticated, exploring the fragile psychological state of ‘the richest woman in the world’.

The cast for the London workshop will be lead by Melissa Errico who has starred in six Broadway shows (My Fair Lady, Amour, Irving Berlin’s White Christmas, High Society, Dracula, the Musical and Anna Karenina). She will be joined by London’s Jamie Muscato (Bend It Like Beckham, Dogfight and Les Misérables).

Errico, is in Showtimes in “Billions” and just returned to Feinstein’s/54 Below (254 W. 54th St.) in NYC for two concerts and is featured in the upcoming Jerry Lewis film Max Rose which received an April 10 premiere at the Museum of Modern Art as the final piece of a MOMA exhibition called Happy Birthday, Mr. Lewis: The Kid Turns 90. Errico sings the vocals on a new song by Michel Legrand with lyrics by Alan & Marilyn Bergman that is featured in the closing credits of the film. The song is called “Hurry Home”.

Michael Feinstein, the multi-platinum-selling, two-time Emmy and five-time Grammy Award-nominated entertainer dubbed The Ambassador of the Great American Songbook”, is considered one of the premier interpreters of American standards. His 200-plus shows a year have included performances at Carnegie Hall, Sydney Opera House and the Hollywood Bowl as well as the White House and Buckingham Palace. Feinstein will also be performing at the prestigious Laurence Olivier awards at The Royal Opera House on April 3, 2016.

Warner Brown is responsible for many successful productions both here and across the Atlantic. His multi-award-winning show Walking With Dinosaurs – The Arena Spectacular created a new genre of theatrical presentation and has become ‘the most popular family show of all time’.  As a Musical Theatre writer Brown has collaborated with the composers Joshua Schmidt, Jim Steinman, Gwyneth Herbert, Charles Strouse, Jenny Giering, Tony Hatch, David Heneker, Jimmy Roberts, Michael Reed, Cole Porter – by special arrangement, George David Weiss and, of course, Michael Feinstein.

The Gold Room is currently under option to London producers United Theatrical and Covent Garden Productions.
