Memorial Day Weekend In NYC What To Do

Memorial Day Weekend is the kick off to summer. White is now the new color choice. Memorial Day is actually about honoring the men and women who have died while serving in our armed forces and the sacrifices made for the red, white and blue. Fleet Week overlaps with Memorial Day weekend as the parades and barbecues ensue.

On Wednesday hundreds of Sailors, Marines, and Coast Guardsmen gather to fill Times Square’s iconic Red Steps for a photo to commemorate Fleet Week in the Big Apple. From sea service members local to the five boroughs to ones who will just be experiencing the City for the first time, the photo will serve to immortalize the camaraderie between the sea services, and the support shown them by New Yorkers and visitors alike.
