Movember Foundation Raises Awareness for World Suicide Prevention Day

Movember Foundation Raises Awareness for World Suicide Prevention Day

The Movember Foundation is the only global charity tackling men’s health issues such as prostate cancer, testicular cancer, and mental health and suicide prevention year-round. The Movember Foundation has one goal: to stop men from dying too young.

Today is an important day of awareness that they are bringing the message to the masses for both men, women and all those in your life that you love. September 10th is World Suicide Prevention Day .

More than 34,000 men die by suicide in year in the United States (making up 77% of all suicides), and their goal by 2030 is to reduce the rate of male suicides by 25%. The Movember Foundation is working toward a world where men and boys take action to be mentally healthy and well, and are supported by their friends, family, and community during tough times.

One of the ways in which they are doing this in the US is through their Making Connections Initiative, a pioneering program that will develop and implement actionable, community-level plans to improve mental health for men and boys. In partnership with Prevention Institute, the Making Connections Initiative is working with 16 communities to develop prevention-oriented, community-driven strategies that draw on local knowledge and customs to develop effective and culturally relevant approaches to mental health.

The Movember Foundation runs awareness and fundraising activities year-round, with the annual Movember campaign in November being globally recognized for its fun and innovative approach to raising money and getting men to take action for their health. Every Movember, they challenge their audience to grow a moustache, move and get active, host an event, or make a donation, all of which spark conversations and raise vital funds and awareness for men’s health.

Join Movember Foundation in the movement to reduce the number of men dying prematurely and visit Movember.com to learn more, or to make a donation.
